Patent number: 6118409Abstract: In order to inspect at least one antenna branch (A1, A2, . . . An), in particular in a vehicle, a power level to be radiated is initially fed into the antenna branch, after which a power level which is reflected in the antenna branch is sensed. Then, a relationship is formed between the fed-in power level and the reflected power level in order to obtain a quality signal indicating the quality of the antenna branch. This procedure can be carried out successively when there are a plurality of antenna branches, in order to select, as a function of the respective quality signal, that antenna branch at which the reflected power level is lowest. In this way, on the one hand, it is possible to check the matching of the antenna branches while, on the other hand, it is possible to ensure that, for example when specific antenna branches are damaged, it is always possible to find other antenna branches for satisfactory communication.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1998Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Assignee: Nokia Mobile Phones, Ltd.Inventors: Andreas Pietsch, Uwe Dalisda, Jukka-Matti Karhu, Jurgen Hess, Holger Christiansen

Patent number: 5380147Abstract: A device for lifting one or more flexible, flat parts such as stacked pap pasteboard, cardboard, plastic is disclosed. The device relies on the propensity of a bundle of such parts to flex up around its edge when compressed at a point away from that edge. In one embodiment, a compression device presses down on one bundle in a stack of several bundles of parts to be lifted and a second compression device presses down the underlying stack, thus opening up a gap between the upper bundle and lower stack. A lifting arm is driven into this gap, and a clamp presses down on the bundle above the lifting arm, grasping the bundle. Two retainers are extended down onto the lower stack to prevent the stack from moving as the bundle is lifted. Once contact between the lifted bundle and the remaining stack is broken, the retainers are withdrawn and the lifting device is maneuvered to a delivery position.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1992Date of Patent: January 10, 1995Assignee: Fraunhofer Gesellschaft Zur Forderung Der Angewandten Forschung e.v.Inventors: Frank-Jurgen Hess, Torsten Schreiber, Frank Wollboldt

Patent number: 5056713Abstract: A heating system for a passenger compartment of a motor vehicle includes a heat exchanger located in the passenger compartment and a feeding conduit extending between the heat exchanger and the cooling circuit of the vehicle internal combustion engine and connected to the cooling circuit at a point downstream of the internal combustion engine in a direction of liquid flow. A return conduit extends between the heat exchanger and a delivery unit of the cooling circuit. The heating system also includes a shut-off device for blocking flow of heat to the heat exchanger. The shut-off device has first and second chambers and inlet and outlet ports communicating with the first chamber. A pressure port communicates with the second chamber and is connected with the feeding conduit. A wall separates the first and second chambers.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1990Date of Patent: October 15, 1991Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Johannes-Gerhard Bertling, Jurgen Hess, Gerd Lentz, Christoph Heier

Patent number: 4647087Abstract: A central locking system for use in a motor vehicle includes a pressure source generating preferably an under pressure and an over pressure. The source is connected to a series of pneumatic control units each including a pressure chamber, a control element arranged in the chamber for movement between two control positions, an opening in the chamber communicating with a space enclosing a valve which normally closes the opening and the space being provided with a discharging nipple which is coupled via the subsequent series connected control units to an indicator device. The indicator device is arranged in the field of view of the car operator. In this manner, the operating condition of locking devices which are outside of view of the operator can be reliably checked.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1985Date of Patent: March 3, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Albert Eisele, Jurgen Hess, Erwin Krimmer

Patent number: 4280799Abstract: A housing surrounds a compressor for cooling media and forms at one axial end of the same a chamber which receives from the compressor one or more streams of gaseous cooling medium in which compressor lubricating oil is entrained. The chamber communicates with an outlet of the housing and is filled with a body of gas-permeable material through which the stream or streams must pass on the way to the outlet, and which separates entrained oil from the gaseous cooling medium.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1979Date of Patent: July 28, 1981Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Hans-Dirk Struve, Jurgen Hess, Theodor Vysiotis

Patent number: 4103506Abstract: The cooling system includes a cyclically operating cooling-medium compressor driven by the vehicle engine. At low to medium engine speeds, corresponding to speeds from idling to city-driving speeds, the cooling system develops a cooling power sufficient to satisfactorily cool the interior of the passenger compartment. At higher engine speeds, corresponding to highway travel, the cooling power developed by the cooling system is automatically decreased by automatically decreasing the per-cycle volumetric throughput of the cooling-medium compressor. The automatic decrease is effected in automatic response to the reaching of a certain engine rpm or a certain condensation pressure in the condenser of the cooling system. In the illustrated embodiment, the compressor is a sliding-vane compressor, and the per-rotation volumetric throughput thereof is decreased by arresting certain ones of the vanes in the retracted position.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1976Date of Patent: August 1, 1978Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Gerhard Adalbert, Jurgen Hess, Ulrich Hecht
