    Abstract: A belt grinder with a pressure beam comprising a plurality of pressure pads arranged adjacent to each other, aligned transversely to the direction of transport of a workpiece and with a variable contact pressure, with grinding belts being guided over the surface of the workpiece to process it, with provision for varying individually and continuously the contact of each pressure pad so that uniform surface working may be obtained.
