  • Patent number: 4680158
Abstract: A circular pelletizing machine for compressing of powder or grain materials, comprises a rotatable matrix disc with a plurality of circumferentially distributed matrices, upper and lower punches located above and below the matrix disc respectively, at least two pre-pressing elements movable relative to one another and acting upon the upper and lower stamps so as to pre-press pellets of a material, at least two main pressing elements movable relative to one another and acting upon the upper and lower stamps so as to finally press the pellets of the material, an adjusting motor arranged to adjust a distance between the main pressing elements relative to one another, computer device arranged to control the adjusting motor, and device for measuring a pressing force of the pre-pressing elements and supplying data of the measurement to the computer device so that the computer device controls the adjusting motor and therefore the distance between the main pressing elements in dependence upon the measured pressing fo

  • Patent number: 4396564
Abstract: A method of manufacturing tablets in a press having a rotary die plate cooperating with a filling device including a rotary filling wheel and a rotary dosing wheel arranged on top of the die plate, and a plurality of die plungers each projecting into an assigned die in the plate, and further including means for adjusting the vertical position of the plunger; the method comprising the steps of adjusting the rotational speeds of the filling and dosing wheels to a value at which minimum variations of compressing forces take place, comparing a predetermined range of variations of the compressing forces with the measured actual values and adjusting the weight of the tablets in process by readjusting the vertical position of the plunger in response to the ascertained difference, and thereafter readjusting the rotational speeds of the wheels to minimize the variations of the readjusted compressing forces.

  • Patent number: 4253811
Abstract: A sorting device for use in connection with a preforming press having a rotary die disk and a punching station cooperating with the disk to mold pellets, includes an electromagnetically operated guiding partition movable between a lower deviating position and an upper pellet passing position; an electronic measuring circuit for measuring the maximum compressing force exerted by the punch; an electronic control circuit for evaluating the applied compressing force and for activating the guiding partition; a first proximity switch cooperating with the punch for activating the control circuit at the moment of application of the compressing force and an electronic time-setting circuit activated by a second proximity switch and cooperating with the control circuit to adjust the instant of activation of the latter in response to the speed of the die disk and to the actual position of a complete pellet relative to the deviating partition.

  • Patent number: 4238431
Abstract: In a tablet press which includes a rotary disc provided with a plurality of dies and pistons engaging from below the dies, a filling wheel and a metering wheel arranged for a simultaneous rotation on the upper surface of the disc in the range of the dies, a vertically adjustable cam track on which the pistons ride, an electronic device for measuring pressing forces in the dies and control means for generating control impulses in response to the range of variations of the consecutive pressing forces, a method of producing uniform tablets by adjusting the rotary speed of the wheels according to the control pulses to minimize the variations of the pressing forces and subsequently adjusting the vertical position of the cam track and thus the weight of the tablets according to additional control pulses generated by comparing the average value of the measured compressing forces with a predetermined desired value.

  • Patent number: 4062914
Abstract: A tablet compressing machine includes strain gauge sensors 5, 5' for monitoring the forces applied to piston rams 1, 2 by pressure rollers 3,4. The strain gauges are connected in a bridge circuit whose amplified output is fed to a mean value generator 15 and a logic control unit 9. The former generates a mean pressing force curve (A in FIG. 3) while the latter causes preset individual limit values for the pressing force signals (B, C in FIG. 3) to track fluctuations in the mean value curve, and compares the instantaneous pressing force signals with the individual limit values. Whenever these limit values are exceeded or fallen below the machine is disabled and the faulty ram is indicated on a display 14 by means of a sensor 7 which signals the ram being monitored. Means are also provided for disabling the machine whenever the mean value exceeds or falls below adjustable tolerance limits.

  • Patent number: 4053266
Abstract: A protective hood for a tablet compressing machine includes a heavy cover plate 12 resiliently supported on the top of the machine frame 11, vertical support members 14, hinged windows 16 secured to the support members by locks 21, and acoustical absorption plates 15 above and below the windows. Environmental integrity is implemented by channel members 17 around the edges of the support members and provided with chambers 18 kept at a positive pressure through inlets 19. The chambers are closed by rubber seals 20 around the edges of the windows 16.
