  • Patent number: 5600709
Abstract: A digital-line telephone unit having two sets combined in one housing with partially shared circuitry. The unit connects directly to an integrated services digital network (ISDN) and includes both a handset with connection cord and a cordless set. A single digital line terminating unit, a main circuit for the corded telephone, and an auxiliary circuit for the cordless phone are connected to an internal digital bus. The main circuit and auxiliary circuit each contain a respective speech processor. Transmission from the corded handset and the cordless handset can occur simultaneously over different message channels of the ISDN.

  • Patent number: 5450474
Abstract: Prior-art radio networks constituted by cordless telephones in which the base stations of cordless telephones are connected to an exchange, comprise a control arrangement connected upstream of the base stations. To considerably reduce the circuitry and cost of a radio network constituted by cordless telephones, there is proposed that the exchange sends out a broadcast call addressed to a multiplicity of subscribers, the broadcast call containing a code assigned to a called cordless telephone and that transmitter means are provided in the base stations which send out a code contained in a broadcast call to the cordless telephones. When the command extension options of exchanges are suitably used, the function of a control arrangement in previous base stations can be integrated in the exchange without additional hardware extensions.

  • Patent number: 5416838
Abstract: A pivotal bracket is attached to the base of a telephone receiver to permit a user to adjust the angle of the base. Preferably the bracket is wider than the base, and extends to one side to provide support for the handset. The bracket may be slidable along the pivot axis to permit user selection of the side on which the handset can be rested.

  • Patent number: 5408682
Abstract: With cordless telephones it is a known fact that each pair of radio stations has m radio channels out of n possible radio channels in common. During a test cycle the mobile unit examines only the common radio channels. Consequently, the test period required for testing only the common channels is shorter than the time necessary for testing all channels. If, by chance, all common channels are busy or if such a situation is the result of a malfunctioning, establishing a link between the base unit and the mobile unit is no longer possible. In the proposed embodiment of a cordless telephone, reliably establishing a link is guaranteed in that in a first test phase the common channels and in a second test phase all n radio channels are tested. A field of application of the invention is the cordless telephone.
