  • Patent number: 6950814
Abstract: Scheme for enriching an input network with knowledge from a fractal semantic knowledge network. The input network comprises objects and pointers between these objects, and the knowledge network comprises semantic units, and a plurality of Jani, whereby any of these Jani is associated with one or more of the semantic units such that the respective Janus is able to operate on one or more of the semantic units. The following steps are carried out: finding a counterpart element for an object or a pointer by looking for a semantic unit that is related to the object or the pointer; establishing a classification connection between the object or the pointer and its counterpart element; assigning the module that is associated with the counterpart element, if any, to the object or the pointer; examining the objects' or the pointers' neighborhoods in the input network by comparing them with the counterpart elements' neighborhoods in knowledge network to verify the classification connection.

  • Patent number: 6944603
Abstract: A method, system, and a program storage device readable by machine, tangibly embodying a program of instructions executable by the machine to perform method steps for processing an input string to generate a fractal semantic network. The fractal semantic network is obtained by parsing the input string to generate an initial parse structure which comprises a plurality of parse elements. Semantic units are generated from some of the parse elements by employing a set of mapping rules for mapping certain types of parse elements into the semantic units such that some of the semantic units are information objects and some are connection objects. The fractal semantic network is generated by arranging the information objects and connection objects in a fractal manner, where the relation between the information objects is represented by the connection objects. The information objects and the connection objects are derived from a small set of basic building blocks.

  • Publication number: 20020188436
Abstract: A fractal network for handling complex structures is disclosed, which is comprised of a multiplicity of units. The fractal network contains both semantic units each possessing informational contents and linking units describing a relational content. The relational content links two respective semantic units in such a manner that the mutual relation of the two linked semantic units is determined by the relational content.

  • Patent number: 6431581
Abstract: A one-piece housing that can be manufactured in one operation for an inflatable air bag in a motor vehicle is described, in which the housing has two chambers, one of which accommodates the air bag module and the other is a diffusor chamber with chamber walls having gas passage openings, into which the gas generator is introduced. Reinforcing ribs of the housing are made in one piece with the diffusor chamber wall.

  • Patent number: 6152479
Abstract: A housing for an inflatable air bag in a motor vehicle with a diffusor section capable of receiving a gas generator, a shot channel section receiving the airbag, and fastening brackets. A plurality of reinforcing ribs have a shape and are positioned on the shot channel section for counteracting expansion of the shot channel section at an outer contour. The diffusor section, the shot channel section, the fastening section and the plurality of reinforcing ribs are formed in one piece and with a plurality of walls. An edge of the shot channel section is multiwalled and all the parts of the housing are homogeneously connected to each other.

  • Patent number: 4918321
Abstract: In a method for the detection of blemishes on the surface of an object, e.g. for the detection of blemishes in the paintwork on the surface of a motor vehicle body, a strip of light is produced on the surface by means of a lighting system, and this strip of light is moved over the surface by relative movement between the lighting system and the surface; strip-like sections of the surface of the object are in each case recorded stepwise in the region of the strip of light, the step size of successive recordings being smaller than the width of the strip of light. In an apparatus for carrying out this method, the lighting system comprises at least one lighting unit with a light exit window, and the recording system comprises at least one sensor unit with a light entry window, the light exit window and the light entry window being arranged closely adjacent.
