  • Publication number: 20050097449
Abstract: A system for content structure adaptation is provided that includes a grammar specification that defines a set system rules, a descriptor that defines content names and types, where the descriptor creates an instance based upon the grammar specification, an interpreter that adds system requirements to the instance, and a code generator that generates application code in response to the system requirements defined in the instance. A method for content structure adaptation includes deriving a data element description from common data, applying system rules to the data element description to create an instance that includes data element definitions and system data requirements, and mapping the data element definitions to corresponding source code fragments in response to the system data requirements. The content structure adaptation system and method changes the data structure of a documentation system by editing a configuration file, as opposed to manually reconfiguring or rewriting source code.

  • Publication number: 20050097462
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for information creation, management and publication of documentation from a single source. A component independent documentation system includes an application server component, a workflow component that provides document processing coordination, a data repository component that provides document storage and retrieval and a media manager component that provides a user interface to the system. The media manager component is linked to the application server, workflow and the data repository components. A method for editing information is provided where a document is edited using an application program, a store document request is made in response to user input, the document is disassembled into information objects, modified information objects are stored in a data repository and an indication is made that the document is available for editing.

  • Publication number: 20050097450
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for composing and decomposing information objects. A system for composing and decomposing information objects includes a data repository adapter, a composition module that is linked to the data repository adapter, and a data repository interface that is linked to the composition module. A method includes receiving a document request which includes an identifier and document type, checking a content logic specification for a corresponding document object template, creating a document object based on the document object template, retrieving an information object using the identifier, adding the information object to the document object, checking the content logic specification for a related object, recursively retrieving and adding the related object to the document object, and sending the document object to the user. The data repository adapter makes it possible to replace the underlying data without any modification to the other components of the system.
