  • Patent number: 8619778
Abstract: There is described a method for automatic address allocation to at least one communication partner encompassed by a network, whereby a primary communication partner likewise encompassed by the network transfers a data item to the, or one of the, communication partner(s) and whereby the communication partner in question performs a comparison of the data item with a reference data item. Depending on the result of the comparison, either an address is assigned to the communication partner in question or the data item is transferred to a communication partner downstream of the communication partner in question in the network and the data item is modified in conjunction with the transfer of the data item to the downstream communication partner. There is also described a communication partner as well as an automation system for executing the method as well as an automation system with such a communication partner.

  • Patent number: 8060672
Abstract: There is described a method, a bus protocol, a peripheral module, a processing unit, a hub and also to a system consisting of said components, for event signaling between at least one peripheral module and a processing unit by means of a system bus. In this case the data to be transmitted data is encoded into a larger symbol space, from which a standard idle symbol is used in telegram pauses for synchronizing a connection between transmitter and receiver. A message present at the peripheral modules is enabled to be signaled to the processing unit independently of the telegram traffic initiated by the processing unit.

  • Patent number: 7843966
Abstract: There is described a module for expanding a central module of an automation system, the data transfer between module and central module being accomplished by means of a serial communication system having point-to-point connections in a daisychain or backplane layout and the module having, in a physical layer herefor, at least two transmitters and at least two receivers. There is also described a communication system having at least one module of said kind and a central module. A module for a communication system within an automation system is specified, which module can be flexibly and easily adapted to the respective field of application. There is further described a flexible and scalable communication system for the data transfer between a central module/a CPU and at least one module with the aim of realizing a modular expansion of the central module/CPU.

  • Patent number: 7664404
Abstract: The invention relates to a rear panel bus, with a number of plugs which may be plugged into the modules and a fibre optic cable, for guiding light signals, whereby the fibre optic cable has a number of interruptions in the propagation direction of the light signals, into which means, for injection and decoupling of light signals running in the fibre optic cable may be inserted. The interruptions in the fibre optic cable are arranged such that a plug may be allocated to an interruption. The invention further comprises a module which may be plugged into an optical rear panel bus and means for injection and decoupling of light signals running in an optical fibre cable whereby the means for injecting and decoupling are arranged such as to be able to be inserted in interruptions in the fibre optic cable, to decouple light signals from the fibre optic cable and to inject light signals into the fibre optic cable in the propagation direction.

  • Publication number: 20070265414
Abstract: A process for preparing a polyarylene ether ketone by reacting an aromatic dihalogen compound with a bisphenol in the presence of alkali metal carbonate and/or alkaline earth metal carbonate in a high-boiling solvent, where the molar mass is established by, in the course of the polycondensation, bringing the molar mass to a target value by again adding a bisphenol or an aromatic dihalogen compound to the reaction.

  • Patent number: 6339805
Abstract: In order, in the case of a programmable logic controller having a modular structure, to be able to insert and withdraw assemblies even in the course of operation, without disturbing the data traffic taking place via the bus of the programmable logic controller, provision is made for arranging an evaluation circuit in a bus access circuit. The evaluation circuit controls a variable resistor, which is arranged in one of the supply lines for the assemble, to have a low resistance if the assembly is connected to the bus and to have a high resistance again if a potential present at a test input of the evaluation circuit lies outside a predetermined value range after a run-up time has elapsed.

  • Patent number: 6199129
Abstract: In order, in the case of a programmable logic controller having a modular structure, to be able to insert and withdraw assemblies even in the course of operation, without disturbing the data traffic taking place via the bus of the programmable logic controller, provision is made for arranging an evaluation circuit in a bus segment or a bus access circuit. The evaluation circuit establishes whether an assembly is connected to the bus and accordingly controls a variable resistor, which is arranged in one of the supply lines for the assembly, to have a high resistance or a low resistance.

  • Patent number: 6125454
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved method for transmitting information on a bus assigned to an electrical controller including a main unit and at least one secondary unit. According to the invention, the reliability of data transmission via the bus is enhanced by checking each data transmission for errors. When a faulty data transmission is found, the data transmission is repeated. An error message will not be generated until a faulty data transmission is detected for a predetermined number of successive transmissions.

  • Patent number: 5600671
Abstract: A modular programmable controller, comprised of a central processing unit and peripheral units, has a serial bus system in the form of a shift register. The total length of the shift register is equal to the sum of the individual register lengths of the bus interface connections of the peripheral units. The individual register lengths of the bus interface connections are dependent upon command and peripheral units. The individual register lengths amount to between 0 and 40 bits. This results in an exceptionally efficient exchange of information between the central processing unit and peripheral units.
