  • Patent number: 5081931
Abstract: To provide a complete seal in the region of the rifling, particularly in worn-out gun barrels firing spin stabilized carrier projectiles provided with a metal guide or driving band and a thin-walled projectile connected to a projectile base and having a wall thickness less than or equal to 0.05 times the caliber of the gun barrel and to reduce the ramming deceleration and the radial pressure stresses on the projectile shell during passage through the gun barrel, a plastic ram ring is disposed on the outer surface of the projectile shell in front of the metal guide band and in a region of the shell that is not supported radially by the projectile base.

  • Patent number: 5063855
Abstract: A projectile arrangement including a subcaliber projectile body and a segmented, discardable propelling cage sabot provided with a common form locking zone for the transmission of the acceleration forces. To reduce the notch effect on the projectile body, and thus the danger of breakage, due to the conventional thread grooves in the form locking zone, particularly in long, slender penetrators made of a breakage susceptible tungsten heavy metal, a novel form locking connection for the inner form locking region between the propelling cage and the projectile body is provided. This novel form locking connection is characterized in that in the region of the form locking zone beneath the exterior gas pressure receiving surface of the sabot, only the exterior surface of the projectile body is provided with preferably annular microgrooves and the surrounding inner surface of the sabot is smooth.

  • Patent number: 5025731
Abstract: A segmented, discardable sabot for a slender sub-caliber kinetic energy projectile. At least two sabot segments are provided having adjacent plane parallel segment separating faces and presenting at least one caliber-sized gas sealing pressure flange member and a non-caliber sized partial region along the longitudinal extent of the sabot. The overall cross section of the sabot, at least in the partial region, has an essentially polygonal cross-sectional shape, and a tangent placed at any point of the periphery of the sabot does not pass through the cross-sectional area of the sabot, thereby providing increased bending stiffness in the non-caliber-sized region of the sabot.

  • Patent number: 4650093
Abstract: Apparatus for separating and distributing granular goods includes a housing and a bucket wheel rotatable in the housing, the bucket wheel having an outer receiving side and an inner side along with a plurality of spaced-through holes extending between the inner side and the receiving side. An intake on the housing supplies granular goods to the receiving side of the bucket wheel and a discharge on the housing discharges the granular goods from the housing, the discharge being circumferentially spaced from the intake. An ejector is disposed within the bucket wheel and faces the inner side of the bucket wheel while a conduit supplies compressed air to the ejector, the ejector having a compressed air outlet directed toward the inner side of the bucket wheel such that the compressed air passing through the outlet acts on the through holes during rotation of the bucket wheel.
