  • Patent number: 6770049
Abstract: A tube system comprising a blood inlet line with an arterial patient connection and a blood return line with a venous patient connection, where a rinsing liquid inlet line branches off from the blood inlet line downstream from the arterial patient connection, and a rinsing liquid return line branches off from the blood return line upstream from the venous patient connection is filled while maintaining sterility in that rinsing liquid is pumped from a rinsing liquid container through the rinsing liquid inlet line, the blood inlet line, the blood return line and the rinsing liquid return line, establishing a liquid connection between the rinsing liquid inlet line and return line. The venous patient connection is sealed liquid-tight with a venous safety cap, and the arterial patient connection is sealed liquid-tight with an arterial safety cap. The safety caps are removed from the patient connections for connecting the tube system to the patient.

  • Publication number: 20030122339
Abstract: A control arm includes a connection tube and two mounting eyes respectively attached to opposite ends of the tube. Each mounting eye has a sleeve and a rubber-metal element vulcanized into the sleeve. In a method of making such a control arm, an elongate tubular member is sized to a sleeve blank of a length commensurate with the tube. Parallel thereto, an extruded profile is made with a cross sectional configuration of the sleeve and subsequently sized to the axial height of the sleeve. Rubber-metal elements are vulcanized into the sleeve blanks which together with the tube are then clamped, axially shiftable, in a friction welding machine for subsequently fabricating protruding collars on the sleeves through material removal and joining the end surfaces of the protruding collars with the end surfaces of the tube. While still chucked, the tube and the mounting eyes are calibrated through cold upsetting and the joints are smoothed.

  • Publication number: 20020133136
Abstract: The invention describes a connection system comprising at least a male connecting element and a female connecting element which can be connected to each other, as well as the male connecting element and the female connecting element. The location of contact of the two connecting elements is preferably provided with a disinfecting adhesive so that an aseptic or sterile connection can be established. Therein both connecting elements have predetermined breaking points which in the connected state are arranged one above the other so that only one breaking point within the tube is obtained via which an aseptic fluid guidance through two tubes from one sterile system to another sterile system can be carried out. Thereby a particularly simple and cost-saving connection is created which fulfills the highest sterility requirements.

  • Publication number: 20020127932
Abstract: The present invention relates to three-dimensional catalyst gauzes for gas reactions knitted in two or more layers from noble metal wires in which the meshes of the individual layers are joined to one another by pile threads. In these catalyst gauzes weft threads are inserted between the mesh layers. These catalyst gauzes have an increased catalytic activity and efficiency in gas reaction. These improvements enable operation with a lower total amount of noble metal employed, for example by reducing the number of gauzes and/or the length of the wire processed in the catalyst gauze and/or the wire thickness, without thereby having to accept disadvantages with respect to the yield and selectivity of the gas reaction, mechanical strength and service life of the gauzes or unavoidable loss of noble metal.

  • Patent number: 6448760
Abstract: The invention concerns arrangements for detecting a rotational or translatory movement between a signal-generating element having a symmetrical magnetic field and means for detecting the magnetic field of the signal-generating element. According to the invention, an analogue, magnet-sensitive sensor element is aligned such that the normal vector of the sensitive surface of the sensor element forms an angle to a vector pointing vertically from the sensor element perpendicularly to the axis of the signal-generating element. The sensor element generates signal pulses whose shapes between their edges are dependent on the direction of movement and rise or fall, such that, when the direction of movement is reversed, the sign of the signal shape changes. The invention proposes simple arrangements for detecting a rotational or translatory movement which requires only one sensor element yet has high resolution.

  • Patent number: 6277060
Abstract: A centrifuge chamber of a cell separator having a separation channel with an inlet to introduce the cell suspension and at least one outlet to withdraw a fraction of the cell suspension is described. The cell suspension can be blood. The separation channel is shaped like a spiral extending from the radially outer end of the channel to the radially inner end of the channel, with a progressive slope. • Patent number: 5440487
Abstract: The invention proposes a process for error recovery in electronic control devices as well as apparatus for controlling the steering angle of the rear wheels of a motor vehicle. The control device controls an actuating member to which is connected a safety device. In the main operation of the control device, transmitter signals are detected, actuating values are calculated and the actuating member is controlled corresponding to the calculated values. The calculated actuating values and the detected transmitter signals are checked for consistency. On the basis of the checked values, a decision is made as to whether to continue running the main program or resort to one of two emergency measures. In the first emergency measure, the safety device is activated and the control of the actuating member is switched off. In the second emergency measure, the signals of transmitters continue to be detected and actuating values are calculated from these signals.

  • Patent number: 5318512
Abstract: Device for the separation of blood with a cannula with the aid of separation in a centrifuge with a blood pump in an inlet line and a collection storage bag, which can be emptied with the aid of a pressure device into a return line. The flow resistance R.sub.o of the return line is designed so that it has preferably about half of the flow resistance of the remainder of the return system. In a return/recirculation phase, the blood pump is operated at a predetermined recirculation flow rate F.sub.R, whereby a predetermined cannula infusion flow rate F.sub.N is established as a function thereof.

  • Patent number: 5240000
Abstract: A targeting device for x-ray locating during an extracorporeal treatment of patients with focused shock waves, particularly for a lithotritor, is suggested. The targeting device comprises a carrier on or in which x-ray positive elements, preferably metal wires, are arranged such that they point to the focal point of the shock wave system. In the x-ray image, the position of the elements clearly indicates the position of the focal point.

  • Patent number: 4968295
Abstract: The invention relates to the control of a system in a blood centrifuge for separating the constituents (fractions) of the whole blood taken from a donor "in vivo" and provided with anticoagulants. A control is provided which as input quantity includes a signal on the flow rate of the full blood and on the output side is connected to the speed setting means for the blood centrifuge. The transfer function of the control is so defined that on a change of the full blood flow the speed of rotation is set so that the volume ratios of the blood fractions to the full blood remain constant. Preferably, the output signal of the control is proportional to the square root of the full blood flow. The control is preferably formed by a microprocessor.

  • Patent number: 4731528
Abstract: Failsafe logic circuits, for instance AND-, NOR-, NAND- and OR-circuits are devised at which at least one signal input is connected to a signal output via an optocoupler. Herewith dimensioning problems with respect to transistors and coupling capacitors as known from conventional failsafe logic circuits do not appear. Further on an optocoupler cannot fail in such a manner that between a photodiode and a phototransistor a galvanic coupling may arise.
