At least one light blocking element, arranged between the light emitters and the object, blocks all but a bundle of light to form a light edge on the object. At least one sensor captures an image of the light edge, wherein the dimensions may be determined from image data of the sensor. The object and/or device may move relative to one another, along an axis, to change measurement location of the object.
