  • Patent number: 5616976
Abstract: The invention concerns an auxiliary bearing system with mechanical bearing elements (3, 4), the auxiliary bearing system being designed for a rotor (2) which is mounted for contactless motion in a stator (1), in particular by means of a magnetic field between the rotor and stator. The auxiliary bearing elements are fixed to the stator at a short radial distance from the rotor and become active in the event of the rotor jumping radially out of position. In order to counter counter-rotational precession of the rotor when it is supported externally by the auxiliary bearing system, and synchronous motion when it is supported internally, the auxiliary bearing elements (3, 4) are designed in such a way that they form on one side a contact surface (6) which provides external support for the rotor (2) and on the other side a contact surface (8) for internal support of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4851783
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for generating a control frequency in which two submultiples of a frequency standard are obtained which differ by unity in the respective frequency division and are mixed so that the contribution of a prior control frequency is reduced form period group to period group while the contribution of the new control frequency is increased from period group to period group. The system provides fine control of frequencies for, for example, driving synchronous motors without requiring excessively high frequency standard oscillators.

  • Patent number: 4310787
Abstract: A device for controlling the phase of an output pulse sequence relative to an input pulse train of the same frequency comprises a multiplier receiving the pulse train from a frequency generator and emitting to a divider a rectangular waveform having a frequency m times that of the pulse train. The divider is controlled by a comparator to divide the frequency of the rectangular waveform by a factor of m.div.1, m-1, or m, depending on whether the actual phase difference between the pulse train and the sequence is less than, greater than, or equal to a predetermined phase angle, the actual phase difference being communicated to the comparator by a counter registering during each cycle of the pulse train a number of pulses proportional to the phase difference.
