  • Patent number: 6621896
Abstract: A telephone having a self-screening mode. The self-screening mode made be switched on and off via an enabling circuit. When activated, the self-screening mode informs the caller that the call is inconvenient. However, the caller is allowed the opportunity to choose between a request for a call back, instigate a call some time later, or in urgent cases allowed to be put through to the receiver. The caller chooses the mode by hanging up in one of two distinct time modes or by simply waiting through a third time mode to be put through to the receiver in urgent cases. The caller may be notified of the time-windows by signal sounds and the length of time of each time window may be adjusted by time loops. Messages to support the caller may also be provided during the time-windows. Alternately, the caller may be prompted with a message to depress different keys to choose the different options.

  • Patent number: 4732486
Abstract: A contact free, optical linear measurement device comprising a beam of light that is emitted by a laser and this is displaced parallel to itself within a first beam path. A semi-reflecting mirror reflects the light of the first beam path to a path-diverting mirror, in this way generating a second beam path, the course of which is parallel to, and at a fixed distance from, the first beam path. An object to be measured is positioned at right angles in relation to and within the two beam paths. Light sensors receive dark and light signals in the respective beam paths behind the object to be measured. By means of an electronic evaluating unit an inclination of the object to be measured can be determined and the exact diameter of the object to be measured can be calculated, without being influenced by its inclination.

  • Patent number: 4597182
Abstract: A gantry-type jig having two longitudinal beams and a traveling cross-rail, each composed of a load-bearing element and a positioning element. The varying load as governed by the position of a trolley is taken up fully, or to the major part, by the load-bearing elements. The positioning elements form a constant reference basis for measuring the deflection of the load-bearing elements by means of transducers. On the basis of the deflection measured, correcting values are established which are employed to change the level of the ram of the trolley or the level of the cross-rail.

  • Patent number: 4465349
Abstract: A microfiche and a microfilm reader comprising automatic positioning of the film stage, characterized by the following features:(a) the microfiche (MFK) is provided with an index (2) of the information present in its individual images and of their x,y coordinates in optically coded form and with a timing track (4),(b) the reader comprises a read head (19) with electronic-optical sensors to read the optically coded index on the microfiche (MFK),(c) an electronic read/write memory (20) for storing the index (2) is connected to the read head (19),(d) provision is made for an alphanumeric keyboard (27) to feed-in a search concept (search key) and followed by an encoder (26) and a register (25) for storing the coded keyboard input,(e) a comparator (24) is connected to the memory (20) of the index (2) and the register (25) of the coded keyboard input, which determines the agreement between the search key and a concept present in the index,(f) the comparator (24) and the memory of the index are followed by appropria

  • Patent number: 4452109
Abstract: In a multi-spindle lathe, the centers of the spindles are arranged offset one above the other at right angles to the plane of the bed slide and the chucks are arranged offset in the longitudinal direction of the lathe. Each turret is fitted on a cross slide, the pivot axes of the turrets likewise running one above the other transversely of the plane of the bed slide, corresponding to the spindle centers. Due to these measures, the lathe is of relative small construction and offers the advantage that the cutting process can easily be observed and that there are no space problems as regards the turrets.
