  • Patent number: 7287367
Abstract: A closing member 1 for compressed air carrying polygonal tubes, which is inserted in a sealing manner into the polygonal tube at one end thereof. The closing member 1 includes an elastic sealing element 3, and the closing member is constructed such that it biases in its inserted state the sealing element 3 in such a manner that it seals and secures the closing member 1 relative to the polygonal tube 8. Closing members of this type are used to seal mounting tubes in yarn spinning machines with pneumatically loaded top roller support and weighting arms.

  • Publication number: 20050183244
Abstract: A textile drafting system which is composed of a pair of coaxially mounted and rotatably driven lower rollers mounted to the frame of a textile processing unit, and a pair of upper rollers mounted adjacent the free end of a pivotally mounted weighting arm so that the upper rollers press downwardly against the lower rollers. A pair of clearer rollers are also mounted to the weighting arm so as to engage the upper rollers. The upper rollers and the clearer rollers are mounted to a common bracket which is adjustable along the length of the arm to accommodate different staple fiber lengths in the yarn which is being processed, and the upper rollers and the clearer rollers can be jointly moved with the bracket along the weighting arm without additional adjustment of the upper rollers and clearer rollers with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 5791151
Abstract: A method is described for preserving tissues and organs, in particular of tissues and organs for transplantation, in which the tissue or organ to be treated is temporarily stored in a well-cooled state, in particular at a temperature in the range from -3.degree. C. to 3.degree. C., for a predeterminable time in an oxygen atmosphere, in a space which can be closed off in air tight manner, wherein the oxygen atmosphere is built up in the space which can be sealed off in air tight manner with a pressure which lies above the atmospheric pressure, and wherein the pressure in the closed space is kept at a pressure lying above the atmospheric pressure for the whole or the further period of intermediate storage.

  • Patent number: 4744204
Abstract: Apparatus for storing pieces of fresh meat has a vessel with an open top for insertion or removal of meat and a cover which overlies the meat in the vessel and can be pushed downwardly by a jack so as to pressurize the pieces of meat and expel air by eliminating gaps between neighboring pieces of meat as well as between the pieces of meat and the internal surface of the vessel. Compression of meat results in expulsion of juices which rise and overlie the topmost layer of meat around the cover.

  • Patent number: 4659578
Abstract: An arrangement for storing or preserving perishables such as meat has a vessel with an open upper end. The vessel may be provided with a cooling system. The vessel has a projecting rim and a U-shaped carrier is placed on top of the vessel upside down so as to engage the rim. The carrier supports a plunger which may be moved up-and-down inside the vessel and may be clamped in any position. A jack is releasably mounted on the carrier and operates to move the plunger down in the vessel. Perishables such as slabs of meat are placed in the vessel to form a stack therein. Air spaces in the stack are minimized by placing the perishables in full surface-to-surface contact with one another and with the walls of the vessel. A cover is placed on the stack and the plunger is lowered onto the cover. The jack is operated to move the plunger downward and thereby pressurize the stack.

  • Patent number: 3979448
Abstract: Processes for the continuous production of aromatic carboxylic acids by reaction of nitric acid with an aromatic compound having an oxidizable alkyl or alkoxyalkyl substitutent which comprise mixing the aromatic compound in the form of small droplets with a large volume of dilute nitric acid having a concentration between 2 and 14% by weight of nitric acid that is maintained at a superatmospheric pressure between 15 and 80 atmospheres and at a temperature between 160.degree. and 230.degree.
