  • Publication number: 20060070570
Abstract: An applicator device for a printing/varnishing unit in a processing machine is provided. The applicator device helps prevent jolts caused by a cylinder channel and thereby increasing the print quality. The applicator roller 5, 6, 7 is associated with a cylinder channel 10 of a printing cylinder 1. The applicator roller 5, 6, 7 consists of a roller core 12 on which at least one compressible layer 13 and a cover layer 14 are concentrically arranged.

  • Publication number: 20050092196
Abstract: In order to process inexpensive printing materials in connection with the processing of an extremely wide range of coating media, such as solvent-containing printing inks, and, moreover, in connection with variable format configuration and extremely flexible processing processes, provision is made to couple a web-fed rotary press and a sheet-fed rotary press to each other. For this purpose, a transfer assembly 7 in the form of a roll-sheet feeder is arranged between the presses.

  • Publication number: 20040074409
Abstract: The invention relates to a coating device for a rotary printing machine, especially a sheet printing machine. The aim of the invention is to provide a coating device whose set up time, in particular, is reduced on account of the design thereof and which can be used in a universal manner. The inventive coating device for a rotary printing machine is provided with a printing cylinder (11), a rubber blanket cylinder (9) and a plate cylinder (8) with at least one associated inker unit (15). The inking cylinders (16) of the inker unit can be moved towards and moved away from the plate cylinder. Plate clamping devices are arranged on the periphery of the plate cylinder (8) for fixing a flexible layered body (17) which comprises a supporting layer (18) that can be fixed in the plate clamping devices and at least one compressible rubber layer (19) fixed on top of the supporting layer, in addition to an outer rubber layer (20) fixed on top of the rubber layer.

  • Patent number: 6699328
Abstract: Temperature control of the coating medium is performed to influence the processability of coating media in an applicator system. In order to operate without losing efficiency, devices acting directly from the inside or the outside for heat supply or dissipation are connected to the elements guiding the coating medium. The temperature of the coating medium is influenced by measuring the temperature within the coating medium and, if necessary, at the elements guiding the coating medium.

  • Patent number: 6607601
Abstract: A coating system for supplying a coating medium to sheet material in a printing press. The coating system includes a tempering system operable for influencing the temperature of both a coating medium processed through the applicator system and rinsing mediums supplied to the applicator system for cleaning the system. The tempering system includes and intermediate container connected to the metering system of the applicator system, a first storage container connected to the intermediate container for containing a stored quantity of coating medium, and a second storage or discharge container connected to the intermediate container for a rinsing medium. The intermediate container includes a heat exchanger such that upon selected connection of either the first or second storage containers to the intermediate container, the cleaning medium or the rinsing medium can be individually tempered for optimum processing.

  • Patent number: 6601503
Abstract: A method and apparatus for more simply and efficiently coupling and decoupling a cylinder in a printing machine. The coupling and decoupling apparatus includes a bearing bushing (11) in a fixed bushing (28). The bearing bushing (11) carries an axial force loaded spindle (10) that is axially displaceable within the bushing (11) between a coupling position in a centering portion (9) of the cylinder and a decoupling position in which a braking system (24, 25) is engaged.

  • Publication number: 20030097942
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method and device for coupling/decoupling a cylinder in a printing machine. The problem of the invention is to provide a method and device that can simplify the coupling process. The problem is solved by placing a bearing bushing 11 in a fixed bearing 28, which presents the spindle sleeve 10, which can be axially displaced in a longitudinal guide 27, and which can be coupled to the end 8 of the cylinder 3.

  • Patent number: 6371024
Abstract: The invention relates to a sheet-fed rotary printing machine with printing units for multicolor printing and at least one coating unit. An object of the invention is to provide stable quality during the coating process and to reduce contamination of coating fluids. This is achieved by providing at least one coating unit being arranged downstream of the printing units, the coating unit including a cleaning system. More specifically, each of the coating units has a rotatable applicator roller, a metering system for applying coating fluid to the applicator roller, and a cleaning wiper system which is movable into and out of contact with the applicator roller. The cleaning wiper is arranged upstream of the metering system relative to a direction of rotation of the applicator roller.
