  • Patent number: 7516639
Abstract: A method of making a structure having an optimized sterical shape of a material 4 comprises the steps of forming a pre-form 1 of the structure of the material 4, setting geometric boundary conditions for the material 4 being in a state in which it is able to rearrange under the influence of internal tensions in the volume of the pre-form 1 so that the material rearranges itself into the structure in a self-organized way, and transferring the rearranged material 4 into a state in which the rearrangement of the material 4 is conserved.

  • Patent number: 4410487
Abstract: Method of producing a core baffle with a plurality of horizontally disposed, parallel profile-rib rings for enclosing the fuel assemblies of a pressurized-water reactor, the profile-rib rings being formed with respective cutouts having a polygonal contour corresponding to that of the reactor core and with baffle plates secured vertically to the profile-rib rings and forming a casing matching the contours of the cutouts, which includes fastening to the profile-rib rings, by welding, one end of a plurality of ribs having a height corresponding to a mutual spacing of the profile-rib rings; successively welding the profile-rib rings to one another by the respective ribs thereof into a cage; assembling baffle plates bent partly into profile sections into the form of casing by bracing the plates against the cage; successively welding the baffle plates to the profile-rib rings of the cage; and welding the baffle plates to one another into a tight casing.

  • Patent number: 4142936
Abstract: Core support structure for nuclear power plants includes a grid of mutually crossing bridges and a support ring surrounding the grid and connected to ends of the outer bridges of the grid, the grid being formed of profile rod crosses having legs of given length, respective legs of pairs of adjacent crosses abutting one another endwise to form together a side of the smallest mesh opening of the grid, and weld means for securing the profile rod crosses to one another at the mutually abutting ends of the legs thereof; and method of producing the foregoing core support structure.

  • Patent number: 4043868
Abstract: A pressurized-water reactor pressure vessel has a plurality of inlet openings through which coolant is introduced from the cold legs of a plurality of main coolant loops, into an annular descent space of restricted radial extent and formed between the inside of the vessel's side wall and the outside of a core barrel on the inside of the vessel. To prevent outward loss of coolant from the vessel in the event of a break in any of the cold legs, the vessel is internally provided with a check valve assembly for each of the inlet openings, and to avoid restriction of the normal inlet coolant flow rate, each assembly comprises a plurality or series of flap valves which are each individually of small dimensions so that they can be fitted into the descent space. Therefore, these flap valves are normally held open by the inlet coolant flow but can snap shut to outward coolant flow.
