    Abstract: Atomic hydrogen for chemical reaction is produced in relatively high concentrations by the combustion of molecular hydrogen with a substoichiometric quantity of oxygen. The chemical reactant is supplied at the point of the development of the atomic hydrogen. Combustion is effected at pressures between 10 mbar and 1.5 bar, with a mole ratio of molecular hydrogen to molecular oxygen of 2.3 to 5.0.
