  • Patent number: 5467701
Abstract: A package strapper with three motor-driven mechanisms, specifically a strap feed, a strap stretcher, and a strap-end fastener. The mechanisms are mounted on a strap track that loops around the package. The strap feed includes at least two wheels, each forced against one side of the strap by a spring. The motor that drives the strap feed can be reversed. The strap-stretcher wheel is between the feed and the track and is partly loosely surrounded by a strap guide. One end of the guide opens into the track. The strap-feed motor and the strap-stretcher motor are asynchronous three-phase motors. They are connected to a frequency converter that supplies them with electricity of varying frequency and potential and controlled by controls or by a processor integrated into the frequency converter. A manually adjustable terminal strap-tension selector is connected to the controls or to the processor.

  • Patent number: 5029433
Abstract: Strapper with a mechanism that has a tensioning wheel and tensions a section or steel strap obtained from a supply role and wrapped around a package and with a mechanism that has a stationary lower jaw and an upper jaw that executes a punching motion, fastening together the overlapping ends of the strap with at least two pairs of angled cuts positioned along the strap. The upper jaw that executes the punching motion is mounted and operated such that, as it executes its intended punching motion, one of the pairs of angled cuts begins to be introduced before the other pair does. To introduce the pairs of angled cuts, the operating surface of the upper jaw, the surface, that is, that faces the lower jaw, executes an essentially roller motion over the operating surface of the lower jaw combined with a motion that approaches the upper jaw to the lower jaw, so that the motion that introduces the first pair of angled cuts to begin terminates before the next pair of cuts to begin.

  • Patent number: 4574848
Abstract: A device for tensioning a strapping band obtained from a supply reel and positioned around a package, and for fastening the overlapping ends of the band together with a sleeveless connection, as well as for cutting off the length of strap not untilized in wrapping the package and leading from the supply reel. A motorized drive mechanism for the upper half of a band-fastening tool and that for the tensioning wheel consists of a single motor that first, while it rotates in one sense, powers a tensioning wheel which tensions the strapping band, and then, subsequent to a shift in gear that depends on the tension in the band, reverses its rotation and powers the shaft of the upper half of the band-fastening tool. The gearshift consists of a pivoting lever that can be shifted against the force of a spring out of its initial position. The pivoting lever engages a spring-loaded gearshift lever through a set screw. The pivot lever is activated by the reaction force of the drive mechanism.
