  • Patent number: 5211712
Abstract: An automatic control system for a friction-encumbered signaling device (50) in a motor vehicle with the system including a first automatic controller (10) that compares an actual signaling-device position (UI) to a desired signaling-device position (US), with the first automatic controller being capable of calculating at least one input variable for the two-step action controller (40) that is connected to the load side of the first automatic controller, and the two-step action controller (40) including the capability for determining a variable hysteresis width E which is dependent upon system operating parameters.

  • Patent number: 5178111
Abstract: A system for the closed-loop control of a positioning unit in a motor vehicle with the system's loop controller supplying a signal to the positioning unit dependent upon a comparison between a predetermined-value signal and an actual-position signal. The predetermined-value signal depends upon the desired position of the positioning unit and upon the output signal from a signal-forming device. Based upon the predetermined-value signal and by simulating the control loop, a simulator generates an estimation signal for the actual-position signal. This estimation signal influences the response characteristic of the signal-forming device.

  • Patent number: 4836166
Abstract: An arrangement is disclosed for controlling the metering of fuel to an internal combustion engine. The control can be open-loop and/or closed-loop and the amount of fuel metered to the engine is limited by means of a full-load limiter dependent on at least the rotational speed of the engine. The arrangement further includes a substitute full-load limiter for limiting the amount of fuel metered to the engine. It is particularly advantageous for the substitute full-load limiter to operate in dependence on the engine temperature and/or the fuel temperature, with a linear function of these parameters representing a further embodiment of the invention. Block diagrams of the arrangement of the invention and characteristic fields explain its mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 4793308
Abstract: An emergency control device for a diesel internal combustion engine with electronically controlled fuel proportioning, which enables an optimal emergency driving operation in case of a defect of the transmitter or transmitters for the actual value of fuel volume. In the event of an error, the mechanism determining the desired value of fuel volume during normal operation, and the fuel volume regulating device, are separated from the fuel proportioning device and the latter is controlled by a special emergency driving signal. An error in the transmitters for the actual value of fuel volume is recognized in that this signal does not fall in the allowable area for the actual value of fuel volume. A first signal, which, together with a second signal, gives the emergency driving signal, is formed from the speed and the accelerator position. The second signal consists substantially of the differentiated speed signal.

  • Patent number: 4559914
Abstract: A control device for protecting an internal combustion engine in the case of malfunction of its fuel regulating system is disclosed. The control device includes means which in response to the occurrence of the first braking mode of operation of the engine after start activates a suction or pump connected to the suction chamber of a fuel injection pump. Then the reaction of the engine to the suction pump is tested. If, the engine does not react to a displacement of the control rod of the fuel adjusting mechanism, then an error is present and the engine is either stopped or switched over to an emergency mode of operation. The control device is suitable particularly for a Diesel engine.
