  • Patent number: 9485246
Abstract: A method includes, in response to a need to access for a user certain stored data that requires authentication, sending a request for the stored data into a data cloud, the request not identifying the user. The method further includes receiving, from the data cloud, response information descriptive of an authentication realm and a single-use nonce; presenting the information descriptive of the authentication realm to the user and prompting the user for a user name and password; re-sending the request into the data cloud with an authentication header having user credentials generated at least in part using the response information, the user credentials comprising the user name and a hashed password; and if the user credentials are valid, receiving from the data cloud the requested stored data.

  • Patent number: 8964576
Abstract: A system and method of reporting in-service performance statistics in a network. The method includes the steps of a node detecting a problem related to a call connected within the network. A problem notification message is then 5 sent to the MSC. The MSC sends a call release message to one or more nodes within the network. The call release message includes a request to release all resources associated with the call. In response to the release request, the node releases all resources associated with the call. In addition, the node sends a release response message to the MSC. The release response message is 10 modified to include information relating to the call problem, thereby providing network statistics to the MSC. Preferably, the node is a Media Gateway (MGw) which sends a H.248 subtract response message modified to include information on the call problem.

  • Patent number: 8538447
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing Time Division Multiplex resources for a pool of Mobile Switching Center Servers in a communications network. Time Division Multiplex resources are provided at a Media Gateway function serving the pool of Mobile Switching Center Servers. Virtual Time Division Multiplex resources are allocated to each Mobile Switching Center Server in the pool and mapped to the Time Division Multiplex resources. An ISUP signalling proxy function may be provided at the Media Gateway function. TDM resources are allocated to at least one Mobile Switching Center, and associated with an identifier of the Mobile Switching Center Server. The TDM resources are mapped to the Time Division Multiplex resource identifier. When the media Gateway receives an ISUP message, it replaces the identifier with an ISDN User Part signalling proxy function identifier before sending the message to a node in an external network.

  • Publication number: 20100169952
Abstract: An apparatus for providing an adaptive authentication session validity time period may include a processor. The processor may be configured to receive an indication of load parameters indicative of authentication rate information, determine, at the service platform, a value defining a validity period for indicating a period of time during which an authentication session validity object is valid based on the received indication of load parameters, and provide the authentication session validity object to a client device. A corresponding method and computer program product are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20090271847
Abstract: An apparatus may include a processor configured to receive a request for an access token from a remote entity, wherein the request includes an indication of a requested service. The processor may be further configured to determine a request type, wherein the request type may be a user identification and password combination, a request token exchange, or an access token exchange. The processor may be additionally configured to extract one or more parameters included in the request based upon the determined request type and to perform one or more security checks based at least in part upon the one or more extracted parameters. The processor may be further configured to create an access token based at least in part upon the results of the one or more security checks and to provide the access token to the remote entity.

  • Publication number: 20080051094
Abstract: Systems and methods applicable, for instance, in facilitating communications. A wireless node and/or other computer might, for example, have connectivity via a network, and/or might search for networks. The wireless node and/or other computer might, for instance, request that communications be diverted to one or more telephone numbers associated with one or more found networks, and/or might establish connectivity via one or more found networks.

  • Publication number: 20060075075
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for providing security features to a wireless mobile device based upon its context when it establishes a wireless connection with different access points. A plurality of access points are connected to a connectivity server which includes a security context middleware. Each of the access points also includes a security context middleware. Furthermore, each mobile wireless device includes security context middleware. A context manager program in the server determines a context for a wireless mobile device from a signal received from an access point indicating that the wireless mobile device is wirelessly connected to the access point. A database connected to the server stores security feature data which is accessible by the determined context to implement a security process.

  • Publication number: 20060073788
Abstract: A system for automatically creating a preferred wireless connection medium order in a wireless communication device (WCD) for connecting to a network. A server on the network detects when a new device has entered a designated space, identifies the device, determines its capabilities and creates a wireless connection medium order for the device. The preferred connection medium order may be determined in view of a device profile corresponding to the WCD. The server may then set the preferred medium order in the WCD. The server may also control further information synchronization once the WCD is connected to the network.

  • Patent number: 6990352
Abstract: A method and system for establishing a data connection between two devices over a mobile telecommunications network is provided. A mobile terminal can establish a data connection with a second device by establishing a GPRS connection and obtaining an IP address. The mobile terminal sends an SMS message including its IP address to the second device. The second device also establishes a GPRS connection and obtains an IP address, and then sends a return SMS message including the second device's IP address to the mobile terminal. Once the two devices have exchanged IP address information, they jointly set up a data connection to transfer data, e.g., image files.
