At a server on the network, data representative of storage utilization by the applications executing at the several computing devices across the network is collected from the agents for processing.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program for providing information on a network storage system. Information is received from host systems identifying storage units the host systems access through at least one identified storage system. The at least one storage system is probed to determine storage units available through the storage system and an identifier of the storage system. The information received from the host systems on storage units the host systems access and the information probed from the at least one storage system on the storage units available through the storage system are processed to determine an association of host systems to storage units for the at least one storage system.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for provisioning storage resources according to a modeling policy. The modeling apparatus includes a monitoring module, a policy module, and a provisioning module. The monitoring module monitors the storage resources on the storage system. The policy module stores and maintains storage management, storage provisioning, and storage resource modeling policies. A user may access and specify these policies via a specification module. The provisioning module automatically provisions new storage resources, such as logical unit numbers (LUNs) according to the storage provisioning policies and modeling policies. The modeling policy defines a modeling strategy by which new storage resources are provisioned to include some or all of the attributes of a model storage resource.
