Patent number: 12257464Abstract: A fire prevention system for a building. The fire protection system has an inlet duct having an interior end and an exterior end. An air handler is disposed at the interior end of the inlet duct to provide air from outside the building to the air handler. A flame arrester is located at the exterior end of the inlet duct to prevent burning embers from entering the inlet duct. The fire protection system also includes an interior duct system for distributing air from the air handler through the building. Distribution vents in the interior duct system allow flow of air from the interior duct system to the interior of the building to raise the pressure in the building above the outside pressure. Exhaust vents to allow flow of air out of the building. Also, a method for fire prevention for a building exposed to a fire.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2021Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Manfred Amann, Justin Dax Haslam, Ravi Durairaj, Matthew Ryan Santacroce, Snehal Desai, Eric David Schroeder, Donnette L. Patent number: 12185133Abstract: Techniques provided herein employ a mesh network of wireless communication-enabled devices to monitor activity in a geographical area, such as a neighborhood or a parking lot. To this end, the mesh network monitoring system collects data about the devices found in the mesh network and establishes an expected activity level, which is used as a reference for comparing and classifying a current activity level. If the current activity level deviates significantly from the expected activity level, it may be classified as an unusual event. Upon detecting an unusual event, the mesh monitoring network may output a notification sent to the users of the devices in the mesh network. The mesh network monitoring system may help drivers determine availability of parking spots on a parking lot.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2023Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Arthur Quentin Smith, Oscar Guerra, Timothy Blair Chalmers, Noe Alberto Martinez, Justin Dax Haslam, Robert Lee Black, Jon D. Patent number: 12142264Abstract: A method and system of reducing noise associated with telephony-based activities occurring in shared workspaces is provided. An end-user may lower their own voice to a whisper or other less audible or intelligible utterances and submit such low-quality audio signals to an automated speech recognition system via a microphone. The words identified by the automated speech recognition system are provided to a speech synthesizer, and a synthesized audio signal is created artificially that carries the content of the original human-produced utterances. The synthesized audio signal is significantly more audible and intelligible than the original audio signal. The method allows customer support agents to speak at barely audible levels yet be heard clearly by their customers.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2022Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Justin Dax Haslam, Donnette L. Patent number: 11988520Abstract: The present disclosure relates to monitoring data in and around a vehicle to predict anomalous, e.g., unsafe, road conditions, and using the data to suggest a corrective action to avoid the unsafe road conditions. A computing device receives information indicative of imagery, sound, or vehicle operation via sensors and/or cameras mounted in or near a vehicle. The information may be received via the vehicle itself or via a device. The computing device then determines whether there is an indication of an anomalous road condition. The computing device also receives vehicle operation data extracted from one or more vehicle sensors. The computing device then determines whether there is an indication of unsafe road conditions, and if there is, the computing device may output a notice or alert via a notification system to alert the driver.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2022Date of Patent: May 21, 2024Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Emily Margaret Gray, Daniel Christopher Bitsis, Qunying Kou, Robert Wiseman Simpson, Manfred Amann, Donnette Moncrief Brown, Eric David Schroeder, Meredith Beveridge, Michael J.
