Patent number: 11002558Abstract: A device displays a first user interface on a first display, including a plurality of objects and corresponding to a second user interface on a second display. While a first object is displayed as a selected object in the second user interface, the device: detects a first input requesting information about a second object; and in response to detecting the first input, displays information about the second object in the first user interface and maintains display of the first object as the selected object in the second user interface. After displaying the information, the device detects a second input selecting the second object. In response to detecting selection of the second input, the device: displays the second object as the selected object in the first user interface; and provides, to the second display, information that enables the second user interface to display the second object as the selected object.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2018Date of Patent: May 11, 2021Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Justin E. Patent number: 10346012Abstract: A method performed at an electronic device with a touch-sensitive display includes displaying a text entry interface area at a first predefined size and with a text input field. The method includes concurrently displaying, at a first size, a viewing area adjacent to the text entry interface area. The viewing area is configured to display scrollable information that includes information entered via the text entry interface. The method includes detecting a first finger gesture on the touch-sensitive display at the text input field. The method includes, in response to detecting the first finger gesture: decreasing the viewing area from the first size to a second size smaller than the first size, and increasing the text entry interface area from the first predefined size to a second predefined size. At the second predefined size, the text entry interface area includes the text input field and a soft keyboard.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2015Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Nefaur R. Patent number: 9645966Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that manages access to a user account from an electronic device. The system includes an identity service that provides a device token for the electronic device and a set of handles associated with the user account to the electronic device. Next, the identity service receives, from the electronic device, a handle registration containing one or more selected handles from the set of handles. Finally, the identity service transmits an identity certificate comprising an association between the selected handles and the electronic device to the electronic device, wherein the identity certificate and the association are used to route data associated with the selected handles to and from the electronic device.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2012Date of Patent: May 9, 2017Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Justin E. Patent number: 9078128Abstract: A system and method for securely processing identity information. For example, in one embodiment of the invention, a first user is registered on an identity service with one or more identification (ID) codes and a token. In response to a query from a second user to connect with the first user, a query signature is generated using the one or more ID codes and token of the first and second users, and a timestamp. The query signature is usable by network services to authenticate communication between the first and second users on the network over a specified period of time. In another embodiment, user ID codes and tokens are cached on mobile devices and/or a system cache to improve performance. The validity of the cached data is determined by calculating a fingerprint which, in one embodiment, is a hash of the ID code, token and a timestamp.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2011Date of Patent: July 7, 2015Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Alexander A. Medina, Andrew H. Vyrros, Darryl N. Bleau, Jeffrey T. Davey, Justin E. Santamaria, Justin N. Wood, Thomas Devanneaux

Patent number: 8958559Abstract: A system and method for secure instant messaging are described. For example, in one embodiment, a first user identifies a second user for an instant messaging session with the ID code of the second user. The first user is provided with network information for the second user and a public key associated with the second user. The first user encrypts an instant message using the public key of the second user and a private key. In one embodiment, the first user encrypts the content of the instant message (e.g., any text and/or attachments) using the public key of the second user and signs the content using the private key of the first user. The encrypted message is transmitted from the first user to the second user. The second user decrypts the instant message using the second user's private key and verifies the signature with the first user's public key.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2011Date of Patent: February 17, 2015Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Alexander A.
