  • Patent number: 11583272
Abstract: A device for passing a needle and suture longitudinally through a target tissue includes a proximal jaw including a proximal recess and a proximal retention mechanism for releasably engaging a first end of a needle received within the proximal recess and a distal jaw movably coupled to the proximal jaw such that the proximal and distal jaws are longitudinally movable relative to one another. The distal jaw includes a distal recess and a distal retention mechanism for releasably engaging a second end of the needle received within the distal recess. The proximal and distal jaws are movable between a first state, in which the proximal retention mechanism is in a locked configuration and the distal retention mechanism is in an unlocked configuration, and a second state, in which the proximal retention mechanism is in an unlocked configuration and the distal retention mechanism is in a locked configuration.

  • Publication number: 20160095591
Abstract: A device and system for treating tissue includes an anchoring element at a distal end thereof for anchoring the device in a target portion of tissue and a coupling element with a magnet. The anchoring element and the coupling element are coupled to one another by a tether so that, when the anchor element is anchored in a target portion of tissue, the tether passes through the portion of tissue and the coupling element remains outside the portion of tissue. The closing device is configured to couple to a second closing device comprising a second anchoring element tethered to a second coupling element with a magnet to hold the target portion of tissue in a desired location relative to one another.

  • Publication number: 20160081678
Abstract: A device for collecting a tissue sample includes a needle extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and including a channel extending therethrough, the distal end including a pair of jaws, at least a first one of the jaws being movable relative to the other between an open configuration, in which the jaws are open to receive tissue therebetween, and a closed configuration in which the jaws are drawn toward one another to collect a tissue sample therein.

  • Publication number: 20160045190
Abstract: A device for obtaining a tissue sample includes a needle body extending along a longitudinal axis from a proximal end to a distal end and including a lumen extending therethrough and a plurality of flaps coupled to the needle body via hinges. Each of the flaps is movable between a closed configuration in which a cutting end of each of the flaps extends towards the longitudinal axis of the needle body so that the flaps extend radially inward to at least partially cover a distal opening of the lumen, and an open configuration, in which the flaps are rotated about the hinges so that cutting ends thereof are moved toward an interior surface of the lumen to uncover the distal opening of the lumen and permit a target tissue to be received therebetween and into the lumen.

  • Publication number: 20160030019
Abstract: A device for collecting a tissue sample includes Needle and Stylet. Needle is extending longitudinally from a proximal to a distal end and includes a lumen extending therethrough. Stylet is movably housed in the lumen and extending along a longitudinal axis from a proximal to a distal end and includes a scooper at the distal end thereof. The scooper is connected to a proximal portion of Stylet via a hinge biased toward a bent position in which the scooper is bent away from the longitudinal axis. Stylet is movable between a constrained configuration and a tissue-collecting configuration. The scooper includes a channel extending longitudinally therethrough and a window extending laterally through a wall thereof in communication with the channel to collect a tissue sample therethrough as Stylet is moved from the tissue-collecting to the constrained.
