Abstract: A system for communicating a parameter from a first device to a second device includes an input processor for receiving data indicating a parameter. An interface processor, used by the first device, communicates a first message to the second device including data identifying a communication protocol to be used in communicating with the first device, This message also indicates that additional data is available for acquisition. The interface processor communicates the parameter to the second device in one or more separate messages in response to one or more corresponding data request messages from the second device. The data request messages are initiated by the second device in response to data being received from the first device indicating that additional data is available for acquisition.
