The system includes an electronic control unit (ECU) configured to adjust the at least one vehicle performance setting in response to receiving the indication from the driver to activate the driving mode and receiving an indication from the steering wheel sensor that the two hands of the driver are in contact with the steering wheel.

The method includes detecting, via a vehicle orientation sensor, a current driving direction of the vehicle. The method also includes detecting, via a GPS unit, a current location of the vehicle. The method also includes providing, by a powertrain, torque to one or more wheels of the vehicle. The method also includes determining, by an electronic control unit (ECU), whether the vehicle is travelling in the wrong direction based on the current driving direction of the vehicle and the current location of the vehicle. The method also includes communicating, by the ECU, an instruction to the powertrain to reduce the torque provided to the one or more wheels of the vehicle when the vehicle is travelling in the wrong direction.
