  • Publication number: 20230353160
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods related to frequency converter arrangements are provided. For example, a frequency converter arrangement converts a first signal centered at a first frequency to a second signal centered at a second frequency different from the first frequency. The frequency converter arrangement includes local oscillator (LO) circuitry and in-phase, quadrature-phase (IQ) mixer circuitry coupled to the LO circuitry. The LO circuitry includes duty cycle correction circuitry to adjust a duty cycle of a pair of input clock signals. The duty cycle correction circuitry includes coarse tuning circuitry responsive to a digital calibration code, and analog tuning loop circuitry. The LO circuitry further includes quadrature divider circuitry coupled to an output of the duty cycle correction circuitry, where the quadrature divider circuitry generates an in-phase LO signal and a quadrature-phase LO signal from a pair of output clock signals at outputs of the duty cycle correction circuitry.

  • Patent number: 10340902
Abstract: Multiplying delay locked loops (MDLLs) with compensation for realignment error are provided. In certain implementations, an MDLL includes a control circuit, a multiplexed oscillator, and an integrate and subtract circuit. The control circuit selectively injects a reference clock signal into the multiplexed oscillator, which operates with an injected period when the reference clock signal is injected and with a natural period when the reference clock signal is not injected. The integrate and subtract circuit receives an oscillator signal from the multiplexed oscillator, and tunes an oscillation frequency of the multiplexed oscillator based on a difference between an integration of the oscillator signal over the injected period and an integration of the oscillator signal over the natural period.

  • Patent number: 9692427
Abstract: Provided herein are apparatus and methods for phase-locked loops (PLLs). In certain configurations, a clock system includes a PLL, a control circuit, and a holdover circuit that is electrically coupled to an input of the PLL's loop filter via a holdover switch and a variable resistor. The control circuit generates an input clock signal for the PLL based on a selected reference clock signal. When the control circuit determines that the selected reference clock signal is unreliable, the control circuit disables the PLL's feedback loop and turns on the holdover switch. After the selected reference clock signal is changed or otherwise becomes reliable, the control circuit enables the PLL's feedback loop while keeping the holdover switch turned on, and controls a resistance of the variable resistor over time to provide a soft transition from holdover to reacquiring phase lock.

  • Patent number: 9281829
Abstract: Provided herein are apparatus and methods for fast charge pump holdover on signal interruption. In certain configurations, a clock generator system includes a phase-locked loop (PLL), a fast detect circuit, and a switch electrically coupled to an input of the PLL's loop filter. The fast detect circuit relatively quickly detects when an input signal to the PLL is lost. The fast detect circuit can quickly detect the loss of phase lock and can place the PLL into a holdover such that the frequency of a clock signal generated by the PLL remains within an acceptable range.

  • Patent number: 8553909
Abstract: An audio amplifier system may include an audio CODEC/output (AOP) path featuring analog class-D amplifiers, and using Natural Sampling Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to convert an analog input into a series of Rail-to-Rail pulses. The audio signal may be encoded in the average value of the PWM pulse train and may be recovered from the PWM signal by analog low pass filtering. The Class-D amplifiers may be designed with a negative feedback loop/network to compare the output signal with the input signal and suppress non-idealities introduced by the Class-D switching stage. Furthermore, operation of the AOP may be designed according to a separate signal transfer function and a separate noise transfer function, and 2nd order noise shaping may be performed at low power, with an optimized filter included in the feedback loop to achieve the best noise reduction at low power.

  • Patent number: 8384485
Abstract: Various embodiments of a radio-frequency (RF) transmitter receiver circuit that utilizes an injection locked oscillator may allow for the introduction of a DC offset to correct the RF signal. The DC offset may be adjusted to eliminate (or minimize) even order harmonics to correct for RF effects. The DC offset correction may be performed around the injection locked oscillator to target even order terms.
