  • Patent number: 4551337
Abstract: A fried pizza crust and a complete pizza product are produced with a method in which perforations are formed in a pizza dough sheet by removing small plugs of dough. Each perforated dough piece is then submerged in a hot oil bath until the crust is fried. The fried crust is removed from the oil and drained, after which it is topped with sauce. The sauce flows into funnel shaped depressions formed over each perforation, some of the sauce flowing through the perforations before congealing. Other topping materials are then applied to the sauce covered crust. The finally topped pizza includes small pools of sauce and flavor enhanced crust areas.

  • Patent number: 4513918
Abstract: An apparatus for uniformly dispensing particulate food materials onto a moving article which comprises a hopper for holding a supply of the particulate and having a horizontally disposed orifice through which the particulate material can exit, a rotatable drum located below the orifice and having a plurality of spaced fins protruding radially therefrom and disposed on a zig-zag pattern and operable to counteract the tendency of the particulate material to fall off the drum, and a scraper adapted to engage the drum surface between the fins and operable to follow the zig-zag pattern of the fins to lift particulate material off the surface of the drum and guide it to a discharge precipice over which it falls onto the moving article.

  • Patent number: 4214675
Abstract: This invention relates to a liquid containing pouch sealed in a carton with the pouch having a spout connected thereto. The spout projects through a hole in the carton and is secured to the carton. The pouch is sealed at the spout and is opened by means of a piercing device incorporated within the spout which is moved axially in the spout for opening the pouch. The piercing device is mechanically actuated through movement of a tubular portion of the spout telescopically fitted therein and carrying the piercing element. Further axial movement of the piercing device is obtained through rotatable movement between the spout and the tubular portion to fold flap portions of the pouch, pierced by the piercing element, such as to enable complete dispensing of liquids therefrom. The spout includes a valve which seals the pouch after opening by the piercing element such that liquid may be extracted from the pouch as the pouch is collapsed within the carton.

  • Patent number: 4165023
Abstract: The invention relates to a container comprising a fluid containing pouch having at least one flexible upper wall portion made of an extensible plastic material. The upper wall portion is connected to a dispensing neck by deforming the upper wall portion into an annular recess into the dispensing neck and locking the same therein with an annular locking collar which is press fitted into the recess. The dispensing neck includes a translationally extending flange portion which will cooperate with a sleeve to secure the dispensing neck in an aperture of a supporting carton. The pouch and a portion of the dispensing neck are preferably made of dissimilar materials having low gas permeation characteristics to prevent the seepage of oxygen into the fluids in the container.

  • Patent number: 4076147
Abstract: An improved container in which the container is formed of a plastic film pouch with a tubular member in one end of the same and positioned within a paper carton and secured thereto. The pouch is filled through the opening in the tubular member which projects through an aperture in the paper container. The tubular member is held to the surface of the container through a locking member and a sleeve member. A projecting portion of the sleeve member is threaded to receive a cap for sealing the container.

  • Patent number: 3995773
Abstract: A flexible liquid container and dispensing device consisting of a flexible fluid containing pouch having mounted therein a rigid tubular member which is held in position by a sleeve member external thereof, the sleeve member being adapted to mount a pouring structure, the parts thereof being movable relative to the pouch and the tubular member therein for piercing the same to dispense fluid from the pouch. The pouring structure will provide not only a spout for dispensing of the fluid but also a suitable closure for recapping the pouch after usage to retain the balance of the fluid therein.

  • Patent number: 3938707
Abstract: A fluid-containing and dispensing structure consisting of a flexible sealed fluid-containing pouch mounted within a container formed of a relatively rigid material compared with the pouch which is deformable. The container has associated therewith a pouring spout which cooperates with a tubular element positioned in the upper wall portion of the flexible sealed fluid-containing pouch to provide a passage for fluid in the pouch and is associated with a top wall structure of the container to enclose the pouch. The top wall structure cooperates with a side wall and the pouring spout to secure the pouring spout on the pouch with a bayonet portion of the pouring spout perforating the top wall portion to facilitate dispensing of the contents of the pouch through the pouring spout. The top wall structure is opened and removable from the remaining portion of the container and the pouch is readily removed therefrom and replaced by a similar pouch.
