  • Publication number: 20240126867
Abstract: An entity may generate digital account credentials when a new account is approved for generation by an authorizing entity that controls or issues new accounts. A user may contact an authorizing entity to open a new account with the authorizing entity. The authorizing entity may authenticate the user and may approve a new account to be generated for the user. The user may wish to conduct transactions immediately upon approval. However, the authorizing entity may not immediately generate a physical identification device along with an actual account identifier associated with the new account. An intermediary entity may generate digital account credentials for the new account immediately after the authorizing entity approves generation of the new account, provide the digital account credentials to the account holder, and process transactions using the digital account credentials.

  • Patent number: 10937031
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to methods, apparatuses, computer readable media and systems for processing transactions using conversion or filtering of restricted information. One embodiment of the invention is directed to a method comprising receiving, at a server computer located outside a restricted zone, a transaction request message including an unrestricted account alias, wherein the unrestricted account alias was previously converted from a restricted account identifier into the unrestricted account alias by a server computer located in a restricted zone. The server computer located outside the restricted zone may determine an account associated with the unrestricted account alias and process the transaction request message. Similar methods may be applied to settlement files including an unrestricted account alias that is converted to a restricted account identifier. Other embodiments are directed to filtering restricted information from service requests or other transactions.

  • Patent number: 8055584
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring and/or preventing fraud in relation to account acquisition. In some cases, this account acquisition is ongoing in relation to stored value accounts. Some of the methods provide for receiving suspicious activity indications from one or more issuer analysis engines that are operable to monitor activities occurring in relation to various stored value products. A global negative file is maintained including an update of various of the suspicious activities. An activity request is received from a user in relation to a stored value account, and the activity is checked against the global negative file. A response is generated based at least in part on the information accessible from the global negative file.

  • Patent number: 7769689
Abstract: Methods and systems enable a transaction to be processed with a customer at a point of sale with a combined stored-value and credit instrument. A cost for the transaction is received at a point-of-sale device. In addition, instrument-identification information is received identifying an instrument associated with a stored-value account and a credit account. The stored-value account and the credit account were linked substantially contemporaneously with issuance of the instrument to the customer. A request is generated to select a distribution of the cost for the transaction among the stored-value and credit accounts for presentation at the point-of-sale device. Instructions are transmitted from the point-of-sale device to apply the cost for the transaction to the stored-value and credit accounts in accordance with a received response to the request.

  • Publication number: 20050114217
Abstract: A transaction with a customer at a point of sale is processed. A cost for the transaction is received at a point-of-sale device that includes a chip-card communications device. Information is read with the chip-card communications device from a chip card presented by the customer in support of the transaction. The information identifies both a stored-value account and a credit account, and identifies current balances for the stored-value and credit accounts. The accounts were linked substantially contemporaneously with issuance of the chip card to the customer. A request is generated to select a distribution of the cost for the transaction among the accounts for presentation at the point-of-sale device. Updated balances for the accounts are determined in accordance with application of the distribution of the cost for the transaction selected in response to the request. Updated information for the accounts is written to the chip card with the communications device.

  • Publication number: 20050108130
Abstract: Methods are provided for producing a chip card for a customer. Credit-account parameters to be associated with the chip card are received. A credit account associated with the chip card is established in accordance with the credit-account parameters. Stored-value-account parameters to be associated with the chip card are also received, and a stored-value account associated with the chip card is established in accordance with the stored-value-account parameters. The credit account and the stored-value account are linked. Information identifying both the stored-value account and the credit account are downloaded onto a chip. The information identifies an initial balance for the stored-value account and an initial balance for the credit account. The chip is installed in the chip card. The chip card is issued to the customer substantially contemporaneously with linking the credit account and the stored-value account.
