Abstract: An illumination assembly includes a light pipe and a light engine. The light pipe has a first edge portion including a light inlet, a first surface including a first light outlet, and a second edge portion including a second light outlet. The light engine is attached to the first edge portion and includes a light source adapted to direct light into the light inlet, whereby light subsequently exits the light pipe through the first light outlet and the second light outlet. The illumination assembly can be used as part of an illuminated sign assembly to provide backlighting and downlighting.

Abstract: The specification discloses a vehicle visor including a vanity light assembly and an actuator assembly. The visor vanity additionally includes a mirror and a movable mirror cover. The light assembly includes a light source and a light pipe for conveying light from the light source to two or more diffusers, for example, on opposite ends of the mirror. The actuator assembly includes a switching arrangement for switching the light source on and off without flicker or noise in response to the opening and closing of the mirror cover.
