  • Publication number: 20150244876
Abstract: A wireless communication device associated with a mobile operator network transmits an authentication request for network access via a wireless access point (AP) using a transceiver other than the cellular network transceiver. Device authentication can occur directly with the mobile operator network via a proxy server or using a stand-alone authentication system that is not part of the mobile operator network. Upon authentication, the requesting device may access a wide area network in a data off-load operational mode and the data flow to and from the device via the AP is monitored and reported to mobile operator network associated with the requesting device. The wireless communication device can communicate with any of a plurality of APs distributed in a venue during the data off-load operational mode.

  • Publication number: 20130185216
Abstract: The present invention relates to computer systems for estimating foreign filing costs, in particular, to a computer-implemented system for generating country-specific fees. The computer system is designed to receive an industrial property (IP) identifier, such as a patent number, generate IP statistics corresponding to the IP identifier, such as the number of words and pages in a patent specification, generate a set of selected countries and, for every selected country; identify a selected fee rule corresponding to that country and apply the selected fee rule to the IP statistics to calculate a country-specific fee. The computer system preferably performs these steps in response to a single user action.

  • Publication number: 20110231324
Abstract: A computer implemented system and method of attracting and lodging PCT national phase patent applications. The computer system for lodging a PCT national phase application with a patent office has an interface which is adapted to receive a national phase filling instruction. The interface is in communication with a document generator which is adapted to generate a national phase entry message. The generator is in communication with a document sender which is adapted to send the national phase entry message to the patent office. When the interface receives a national phase filing instruction the document generator generates the national phase entry message and the document sender sends the message to the patent office thereby lodging the PCT national phase application.

  • Publication number: 20110213707
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention may provide systems and methods for facilitating person-to-person payments. A payer request to pay a payee identified by a first contact identifier is received. Upon failing to locate the payee in a data repository of registered payees via the first contact identifier, the first contact identifier is utilized to transmit a registration invitation to the payee. Information associated with the request may be stored pending registration by the payee, and the invitation may include a link to a payment service provider site and an indicator of the stored information. Based upon a payee selection of the link, the indicator and identifying information for the payee other than the first contact identifier is received. The received identifying information is utilized to determine a pre-existing registration of the payee with the payment service provider, and the stored information is utilized to direct a payment to the payee.

  • Publication number: 20090182683
Abstract: A basket calculation engine is deployed to receive a stream of data and accelerate the computation of basket values based on that data. In a preferred embodiment, the basket calculation engine is used to process financial market data to compute the net asset values (NAVs) of financial instrument baskets. The basket calculation engine can be deployed on a coprocessor and can also be realized via a pipeline, the pipeline preferably comprising a basket association lookup module and a basket value updating module. The coprocessor is preferably a reconfigurable logic device such as a field programmable gate array (FPGA).

  • Publication number: 20080201334
Abstract: A computer-implemented system for providing validation instructions to European attorneys. The computer system is designed to send a validation instruction message to a number of European attorneys, asking them to validate a granted European patent. The computer system is designed to communicate with an interface, a specification database and a number of European agents. The system is set up so that when the computer system receives a European patent identifier and a country selection via the interface, the computer system: (a) obtains, from the specification database, a European patent specification corresponding to the European patent identifier; and (b) provides the European patent specification and a validation instruction message to a particular European agent corresponding to the country selection. The system is further adapted to calculate and bill the total validation cost up-front.

  • Patent number: 6629657
Abstract: A method and apparatus to dispose a tape around the hub portion of a rotatable reel disposed within a tape cartridge, said hub including a pair of flanges extending outwardly therefrom and arranged to contain said tape, each of said flanges having an inner surface, said tape disposed on said hub such that a first edge of a first portion of said tape is disposed on the inner surface of a first flange and such that neither of the edges of a second portion of the tape are disposed on the inner surface of that first flange.

  • Patent number: 6618224
Abstract: A device for mechanically isolating the media tape reel of a data tape cartridge from its outer protective housing utilizes a compliant, cylindrical object. The object prevents relative movement between the reel and the housing in three degrees of freedom. The object is inserted into an opening in the housing of the tape cartridge for applying force against the reel. The compliant nature of the object allows it to be retained in the opening and engage the hub of the reel. The reel is pushed and held against an inner surface of the housing to prevent axial, radial, and rotational motion of the reel relative to the housing.
