  • Patent number: 9857801
Abstract: A method of performing online diagnostics for a valve includes receiving valve information while the valve is in operation. The valve information includes setpoint data and position data associated with the valve. The method further includes processing the setpoint data and the position data at a plurality of time intervals, and detecting an occurrence of a stick-slip based on the processing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 31, 2014
Date of Patent: January 2, 2018
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Frederick Wilson Wheeler, Robert Claude Prescott, Justin Shriver, Larry Schoonover
  • Patent number: 9695956
Abstract: Systems and methods for diagnosing components of a control system are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the spectral content of various signals originating from a control valve is used to detect periodic patterns that can correspond to valve problems.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 29, 2013
Date of Patent: July 4, 2017
    Assignee: Dresser, Inc.
    Inventors: Jagadish Gattu, Justin Shriver
  • Patent number: 9625900
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for monitoring characteristic data includes selecting a first operable system device and receiving a first plurality of data from the first operable system device. The first plurality of data represents at least one characteristic of the first operable system device at a first plurality of points in time. The method also includes determining whether the first plurality of data is useful. If the data is useful, the method also includes receiving a second plurality of data from the first operable system device, the second plurality of data represents at least one characteristic of the first operable system device at a second plurality of points in time, wherein the second plurality of points in time is substantially larger than the first plurality of points in time. If the data is not useful, the method further includes selecting a second operable system device.

Date of Patent: April 18, 2017
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Brett Alexander Matthews, Frederick Wilson Wheeler, Robert Claude Prescott, Justin Shriver
  • Publication number: 20150276086
Abstract: A method for performing diagnostics for a valve assembly includes obtaining valve assembly information including a set of data points where each data point of the set of data points includes a position of an actuator stem. The method includes classifying each data point of the set of data points as at least one of a plurality of data point types where the plurality of data point types includes a first data point type and a second data point type. The method also includes determining at least one valve assembly characteristic based on the classification of each data point of the set of data points where determining the at least one valve assembly characteristic includes measuring the position of the actuator stem at a specific point in time.

  • Patent number: 8522196
Abstract: A computer-readable medium and method may include instructions for providing a graphical model in a computing environment, where the graphical model includes a plurality of graphical affordances. Generated code may be provided based on the graphical model, where the generated code includes a plurality of code segments. A traceability report may be generated based on the graphical model and the generated code, wherein the traceability report includes a mapping of the plurality of code segments to corresponding ones of the plurality of graphical affordances. The traceability report may be stored.
