In this embodiment, the method for tracking consumable items comprises storing a first unique identifier associated with a parent item on a server, and reading the first unique identifier from a first RFID attached to the parent item using an RFID communication computer. The method also includes reading one or more other unique identifiers from other RFIDs each attached to a unique child item and sending the first unique identifier and the other unique identifier to the server.
