Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for digital document management. A physical context can be identified, wherein such a physical context includes three dimensions of data. One or more digital documents can be automatically linked to the physical context, after identifying the physical context. Constraints can then be combined, which are derived from the three dimensions of data, allow particular actions with respect to the digital document(s). The three dimensions of data include, for example, data indicative of location, time, and a social component (e.g., people present at a location). Actions with respect to the digital document can include, for example: an allowed action, a restricted action, or a prohibited action (e.g., read/write).

Abstract: Outgoing emails and threads are compared to performance indicators, to identify problematic email behavior, and the problematic email behavior is matched to suggestions for changing email behavior and to explanations of how the outgoing emails containing the problematic email behavior cause undesirable incoming emails. The problematic email behavior is also compared to goal standards, to produce email behavior targets and goals. Behavioral feedback related to the problematic email behavior is provided using, for example, a dashboard display. The behavioral feedback can include suggestions for changing email behavior, email behavior targets and goals, societal email behavior comparisons relative to others, etc., links between the outgoing emails and behavior of others, an explanation of how the outgoing email impacts the quantity and quality of the incoming emails, etc.

Abstract: A method for planning a transportation service includes sending transportation proposal to a plurality of organizations. The proposal includes one or more initial options, each including a set of variable parameters. Each organization can generate a modified option and make a commitment conditional on selected ones of the parameters. Each organization sends respective modified options to commuters of that organization who may specify their own pledges for at least one of the modified options, conditional on the organization-selected values for the variable parameters and optionally on commuter-selected values for the variable parameters. A cost-benefit function is computed for each of a set of revised options for the transportation service, each of the revised options being based on a combination of the variable parameters for which pledges which cover the combination have been received and one or more of the revised options is identified, based on the computed cost-benefit function.

A received print job is compared with pending print jobs and executed print jobs, wherein the pending print jobs and the executed print jobs are stored in one or more print queues associated with one or more printing systems. Thereafter, one or more pending print jobs are suspended if the one or more pending print jobs are found similar to the received print job based on the comparison; or the received print job is suspended if the received print job is found similar to one or more of the executed print jobs, based on the comparison.

Abstract: A system and method for visualizing performance metrics are disclosed. The system includes a data acquisition component which collects information related to a set of agents operating in a work environment, a performance metric computation component which computes, for one of the agents, values for a performance metric at each of a plurality of times within a selected time period, and a representation generator which generates a representation for display to the agent, the representation providing the agent with information on the agent's current value for the performance metric. A processor implements the data acquisition component, the performance metric computation component, and the representation generator.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices automatically monitor printing activities of a user using a tangible processor, and automatically analyze the printing activities of the user to determine the printing history of the user over time using the tangible processor. Also, these methods, systems, and devices automatically compare the printing history with previously established printing data (using the tangible processor) to produce an analysis of user printing activity, and automatically change the appearance of a graphic screen item on a graphic user interface based on the analysis of the user printing activity. Further, these methods, systems, and devices display details of the analysis of user printing activity on the graphic user interface in response to user interaction with the graphic screen item.

Abstract: A guided natural language interface, a method for guiding a user in specifying a color problem with a document image, and a set of templates for use in the interface and method are provided. The interface includes computer readable memory which stores a set of issue description templates, each template being configured for guiding a user in formulating a problem statement characterizing, in natural language, a problem related to color identified in an input document. A natural rendering engine receives information input by a user and/or information input from an associated problem detector, and instantiates one of the templates in response thereto. The natural language rendering engine is configured for presenting the problem statement to the user as it is refined and communicating information based on the refined problem statement to an associated problem corrector.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method compute a reference behavior for a user, such as a new user of a set of shared devices or services. The method includes acquiring usage data for an initial set of users of the devices and extracting features from the usage data. A model is learned with the extracted features for predicting a user role profile for a new user based on features extracted from the new user's usage data. The user role profile associates the user with at least one of a set of roles. A new user's usage data is received and, with the trained model, a user role profile is predicting for the new user based on features extracted from the new user's usage data. A reference behavior is computed for the user based on the predicted user role profile and the reference behaviors for roles in the set of roles.

The method includes receiving a color document and print profiles into memory, identifying out-of-gamut regions within the color document, presenting the identified out-of-gamut regions to a user, receiving color accuracy requirements from the user for at least one out-of-gamut region, computing a color quality value for each of the at least one print profile based at least partially on the received color accuracy requirements, creating a ranked list comprising the at least one print profiles ranked at least partially according to the computed color quality value, and outputting the ranked list to a user terminal, a computer monitor, or computer memory.

The method includes assigning a status to each of a set of networked printers, the status of an operational printer denoting a printer as being one of at least awake, asleep, and waking up soon. The assigned status is provided to a graphical user interface, enabling a user to compare the status and/or environmental costs of printing with user selectable ones of the set of printers.

Abstract: A print mediator includes an interface module which serves as an interface for a document to be submitted for printing. The interface module communicates with an associated printing infrastructure for acquiring color rendering information for a print queue of the printing infrastructure. A reviewing application receives the acquired color rendering information and generates a visual representation of a document to be submitted for printing based thereon. Problems relating to color rendering by the printing infrastructure are detected and proposals for correction are presented to the submitter by the reviewing application. The user can review the proposals and accept or reject them as well as making annotations on the document. An analogous reviewing application is accessed by the print shop operator to review the document and submitter's annotations.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of a color management system and an associated method that display a visual representation of a digital version of a document and further annotate selected object(s) in the visual representation with corresponding statement(s) containing a natural language description of any color differences between the selected object and the same object in a different digital version of the same document. For example, a visual representation of the print-preview version of a document can be displayed and a selected object within the visual representation can be annotated with a statement containing a natural language description of any color differences between the selected object and the same object in the selected-for-print-preview version of the document. By annotating selected object(s) on the display in this manner, the embodiments provide an accurate indication of color variations between the two versions even in a non-calibrated and/or non-optimal viewing environment.

Abstract: A system and method enable semi-automated generation of query expansion rules for searching a knowledge base. Candidate synonymy pairs are automatically extracted from queries made by users when searching a knowledge base. Synonymy rules are defined, based on the extracted candidate synonymy pairs, and may be context dependent. Query expansion rules based on the defined synonymy rules can then be exported to a storage medium for use in expansion of new user queries when searching the knowledge base.

Abstract: A method suited to the detection and correction of red-eyes includes assigning a probability to pixels of a digital image of the pixel being in a red-eye, the probability being a function of a color of the pixel. Optionally, generally circular regions in the image of contiguous pixels which satisfy at least one test for a red-eye are identified. The test may include determining a size or shape of the region or an extent of overlap with a region comprising pixels having at least a threshold probability of being in a red-eye. For each of a plurality of the pixels, such as simply those in identified regions, or for all pixels or a larger group of the pixels, a color correction for the pixel is determined. The correction is a function of the assigned probability that the pixel is within a red-eye and a color of the pixel.
