  • Patent number: 5117665
Abstract: A vehicle door lock system includes, interior and exterior handle assembies that are accessible, respectively, from interior and exterior sides of a vehicle door on which the door lock system is mounted. The door lock system includes a rotary latch that is configured to releasably engage a door-frame-mounted striker to "latch" and "unlatch" the door. The door is "locked" and "unlocked" by selectively enabling and disabling driving connections between the handle assemblies and separate release arms of the rotary latch. More specifically, locking and unlocking of the door are effected either by operating an exterior key cylinder, or by operating an interior sill button.

  • Patent number: 4917412
Abstract: A vehicle door lock system includes interior and exterior handle assemblies that are accessible, respectively, from interior and exterior sides of a vehicle door on which the door lock system is mounted. The system includes a plurality of rotary latches that are configured to releasably engage door-frame-mounted strikers to "latch" and "unlatch" the door, and a latch interconnection linkage for effecting concurrent unlatching of the rotary latches. The door is "locked" and "unlocked" by selectively enabling and disabling at least one driving connection between at least one of the handle assemblies and separate latch release arms that are arranged to operate a selected one of the rotary latches. In preferred practice, locking and unlocking of the door are effected either by operating an exterior key cylinder, or by operating an interior sill button.

  • Patent number: 4706478
Abstract: A rotary handle operated lock includes a pan-shaped housing member that has a back wall at the base of a forwardly facing recess. A guide member is welded to the rear face of the back wall and cooperates with the back wall to define a sturdy guide channel which slidably mounts a control member form movement between locked and unlocked positions. A shaft extends through aligned holes that are formed in the back wall and in the guide member, and through a keyhole shaped slot that is formed in the control member. The shaft has a front end region that carries a pivotally mounted, nestable operating handle, and a rear end region that carries a latching arm. The operating handle and the latching arm rotate with the shaft between latched and unlatched positions.

  • Patent number: 4335595
Abstract: A door lock has a flush-mountable body. A forwardly facing recess is defined by the body. A paddle-type handle is pivotally carried by the body and is movable between a nested position within the body recess and an operating position. A spring-projected slide bolt is carried on the back of the body and is movable between projected and retracted positions. A key-controlled disconnect linkage is provided for selectively connecting and disconnecting the handle and the bolt. The disconnect linkage includes a disconnect member which extends longitudinally along one side of the bolt and which has an end region that is shifted from side to side between connecting and disconnecting positions by a key-operated locking member. When the disconnect linkage drivingly connects the handle and the bolt, movement of the handle from its nested position to an operating position will cause corresponding retracting movement of the bolt.
