  • Patent number: 11888635
Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method are provided that automatically manages compliance by a participant during a video communication session. The electronic device communicatively connects over a network to second electronic device(s) during a video communication session. The electronic device receives image stream(s) produced respectively by an image capturing device of a corresponding second electronic device. The electronic device identifies person(s) within the image stream(s) and compares to a roster of at least one person expected to join the video communication session to produce attendance data. The electronic device determines participation data related to an amount of time that the person(s) gaze toward the image capturing device of the corresponding second electronic device. The electronic device communicates, to a host output device, the attendance data and the participation data of the person(s) during a duration of the video communication session.

  • Patent number: 11726734
Abstract: A mobile device communicates content to an external presentation device, such as a display device, for display or other presentation at the external presentation device. The mobile device identifies an impairment of a user of the mobile device. One or more configuration settings for a user interface of the external presentation device are determined based on the impairment of the user. These configuration settings are, for example, an indication of a particular audio level, an indication to perform text to speech, an indication of a particular type of color blindness, and so forth. The configuration settings are communicated to the external presentation device, allowing the external presentation device to be configured for or adapted to the impairment of the user.

  • Publication number: 20230221838
Abstract: A mobile device communicates content to an external presentation device, such as a display device, for display or other presentation at the external presentation device. The mobile device identifies a user handedness of a user of the mobile device. One or more configuration settings for a user interface of the external presentation device are determined based on the user handedness of the user. These configuration settings are, for example, settings for any of various user interface elements displayed by the external presentation device such as icons, buttons, menus, widgets, and so forth. The configuration settings are communicated to the external presentation device, allowing the external presentation device to be configured for or adapted to the user handedness of the user.

  • Publication number: 20230208964
Abstract: An electronic device includes one or more sensors detecting an energy storage level of an energy storage device falling below a predefined threshold. A location detector and a motion detector determine whether the electronic device is positioned at a location trusted by an authorized user or whether the electronic device is being transported by a mode of transport trusted by the authorized user. The one or more processors identify foreground applications operating on the electronic device and non-essential services associated with the foreground applications. The one or more processors restrict the non-essential services from occurring when the energy storage level of the energy storage device is below the predefined threshold unless the electronic device is positioned at the trusted location or is being transported by the trusted mode of transport.

  • Publication number: 20230140043
Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method are provided that automatically visually monitors a person using the electronic device to provide health recommendations. The electronic device includes display device(s) and image capturing device(s) that produces an image stream and is configured to have a field of view that incorporates a person positioned to gaze at the display devices). A controller of the electronic device identifies at least one of a position or movement of at least one body part of the person incorporated in the image stream. The controller determines whether a health recommendation is associated with the position and/or movement of the at least one body part. The controller presents a prompt at the display device(s) requesting the person to reposition the at least one body part based on the health recommendation being associated with the position and/or movement of the at least one body part.

  • Patent number: 11507169
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing power and data usage in a mobile electronic communications device entail detecting a sleep state of a user of the device, and entering an idle mode when the sleep state of the user is deep sleep, wherein the idle mode restricts device CPU and network activities to exclude user-centric operations. When the sleep state of the user changes from the deep sleep state, the device exits the idle mode and enters an operative state to execute any pending user-centric operations.

  • Patent number: 11166128
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing calls and alerts on a mobile electronic communications device include detecting a sleep state associated with the user, providing alerts to the user in a manner and at a time determined by the user's current sleep state. Similarly, calls are managed based on the user's sleep state so that the user is not awakened from deep sleep by routine calls but may be awakened in the event of an urgent call.

  • Publication number: 20200320890
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing user state-based learning reinforcements via a mobile electronic communications device include receiving an initiation command that identifies learning reinforcement material, identifying a sleep state of the user and providing the learning reinforcement material to the user when the sleep state of the user is a light sleep state. The learning reinforcement material is no longer played to the user when the user's sleep state becomes a state other than the light sleep state.

  • Patent number: 10521607
Abstract: A method, a system, and a computer program product for contextually sharing content with at least one receiving participant during a video conference. The method includes identifying content to be shared by a sharing participant within a shared space of the video conference that is viewable by the at least one receiving participant. The method further includes determining at least one sharing parameter that defines participant access to view the content and determining sharing credentials for each receiving participant of the video conference. The method further includes comparing the at least one sharing parameter to the sharing credentials of each receiving participant to individually determine which receiving participants are authorized to view the content. The method further includes, in response to the comparison indicating that a receiving participant is not authorized to view the content, omitting or rendering the content unreadable within the shared space for the unauthorized receiving participant.

  • Patent number: 10108851
Abstract: A video conference invite is accessed and names and/or account addresses in the invite are used to obtain information of people listed on the invite from a database. The information can include template photographs of the people and locations of the people. During a video conference that is subject of the invite, when it is determined that a video feed of the video conference indicates that plural participants are together in a single room, images of faces in the video feed are efficiently matched against only template photographs of people in the database indicated by the database as being associated with the room.
