  • Patent number: 7550187
Abstract: An exemplary moisture barrier membrane 10 comprises a waterproof adhesive layer, (14) a carrier support, (12) and a release liner (16) composite having a paper sheet, (20) cutting strings, (22) a polyolefin (24) coating or film for holding the strings against the paper and apart from the waterproof adhesive layer, and a release agent (26) such as silicone or wax over the polyolefin coating or film. This construction allows for relatively thin paper and strings to be used, such that tear resistance is conferred upon the release liner composite as a whole.

  • Patent number: 7459180
Abstract: Skid-resistant moisture barriers of the invention, such as house wrapping, waterproofing membranes, and roofing underlayrnents, have a carrier sheet with polymer nodules deposited thereon through a rotating screen roll or by transfer means such as a gravure roll. Precise coating levels and polymer distribution can be achieved more easily when compared with prior art coating and embossing methods.

  • Publication number: 20080196351
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of installing a flashing tape onto a building surface proximate to an opening in a building structure. The method includes: providing a roll of flexible flashing tape, wherein the flexible flashing tape comprises a flexible substrate with an adhesive layer on one surface of the flexible substrate, wherein the adhesive layer has sufficiently low adhesion such that the flashing tape may be easily unrolled without the need for a release liner and may be removably adhered to the building surface; unrolling a portion of the flexible flashing tape and positioning it onto the building surface such that the adhesive layer contacts the building surface and removably adheres the flashing tape to the building surface until the flashing tape can be permanently fastened thereto; and permanently fastening the flashing tape to the building surface with mechanical fasteners.

  • Publication number: 20070199265
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-layer fluid delivery device for post-installation in-situ barrier creation. The device provides a medium for post-installation injection of remedial substances such as waterproofing polymeric resins or cementitious materials, insecticides, mold preventatives, rust retardants and the like. The device comprises a first layer and a second layer, with optionally an intermediate layer therebetween, and a plurality of tubes extending outwardly from the first layer. The first layer is preferably semi-permeable; the second layer is non-permeable; the optional intermediate layer is a void-inducing layer. The multi-layered device is attached to a structural substrate and a construction material such as concrete or shotcrete is applied against its surface (and around the plurality of tubes). Thereafter, a free flowing active substance can be injected through the tubes to fill the air space in the multi-layered device.

  • Publication number: 20050196590
Abstract: Shaped waterproofing membranes having three-dimensional contours are useful for the “reverse tanking” waterproofing of detail areas such as those presented by “tiebacks,” pipes, pile caps, and other irregularities that occur on concrete formworks and other civil construction or building surfaces. A preferred method for making such membranes is to thermoform a membrane laminate, having a carrier support sheet, waterproofing adhesive, and optionally a protective coating layer, as a single unit.

  • Patent number: 6500520
Abstract: Coated articles, methods for making such articles, and waterproofing systems incorporating these. An exemplary coated article comprises a body with surface coating of inorganic particles reactive with hydroxide generated from hydration of concrete or mortar to form hydration products. The articles are designed to be used with cast concrete or masonry. The inorganic particles comprise at least one of (a) aluminum oxide trihydrate; (b) silica dioxide; (c) fly ash; (d) blast furnace slag, (e) silica fume; (f) an alkali or alkaline earth metal salts; or mixture thereof. The particles improve bonding with hydratable cementitious compositions that are cast against the coated surface and allowed to set.
