  • Publication number: 20190245679
Abstract: Modifications to Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) hardware acceleration circuitry are described to allow hardware acceleration of the key operations of any non-AES block cipher, such as SMT and Camellia. In some embodiments the GF(28) inverse computation circuit in the AES S-box is used to compute X?1 (where X is the input plaintext or ciphertext byte), and hardware support is added to compute parallel GF(28) matrix multiplications. The embodiments described herein have minimal hardware overhead while achieving greater speed than software implementations.

  • Patent number: 10164444
Abstract: An energy storage device includes an integrated fuel gauge that is operatively connected to the energy storage device. The fuel gauge evaluates an operating parameter of the energy storage device and dynamically determines a state of charge. The fuel gauge communicates a communication including a requested operating parameter to the charging component with the single communication line and the signal indicates to an operating system component a change of an energy storage device state. The signal is used to trigger an alert or interrupt that causes the operating system component to display the change of the energy storage state based on the signal.

  • Publication number: 20140276038
Abstract: The invention generally relates to systems and methods for predicting impact of a catheter on curvature of a vessel. In certain aspects, the invention provides a system for predicting impact of a catheter on curvature of a vessel. The system includes a central processing unit (CPU) and storage coupled to the CPU for storing instructions. The stored instructions, when executed by the CPU, cause the CPU to accept as input data representative of stiffness of a catheter. The CPU is additionally caused to compare the data to a material parameters data set. The material parameters data set includes vessel displacement values for catheters of different stiffness. The CPU is additionally caused to predict impact of the catheter on a curvature of a vessel based on the comparison of the data to the material parameters data set, and to provide the prediction as an output.

  • Publication number: 20120025786
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for recharging a rechargeable battery (202) having step charge requirements, where the charge current is tapered as successive voltage thresholds of the step charge requirements are approached. The battery (202) is programmed with a charge tapering algorithm, so that the battery charger (208) need not be programmed with battery-specific information. The charge tapering algorithm is used in conjunction with the step charge requirements and a measurement of one or more properties of the battery to determine an appropriate charge current as a function of time.

  • Patent number: 7603398
Abstract: For one disclosed embodiment, a converter converts 2N-bit data into an N-bit value indicating a number of bits in the data that have a predetermined logical value. The converter includes N comparators, each determining whether the number of bits in the data having the predetermined logical value exceeds a respective one of a plurality of reference values. The N-bit value is generated based on the outputs of the comparators. For another disclosed embodiment, a first delay element delays a signal based on a number of bits in a data value having a predetermined logical value, and a second delay element delays the signal based on a number of bits in a reference value having the predetermined logical value. A comparator then generates a bit value based on the delayed signals.

  • Patent number: 5792961
Abstract: A portable fastener tester system for measuring the pullout strength of a fastener that is comprised of an electronic processing unit electrically coupled to a load cell, an optical reader, an opto chopper disc, and a display, a motor having a shaft coupled to a small drive gear which engages a large drive gear, and a tester assembly comprised of a driving member, a case housing, a power nut assembly and a captured nut retained within the power nut assembly. The captured nut is forceably rotated by the motor and engaged small and large drive gears so to foreceably translate the driving member upward through the power nut assembly thereby applying a pulling force on a fastener being tested. The load cell being utilized to transfer the pulling force from the driving member to the fastener, electrically sense the applied force and transmit data to the electronic processing unit for being displayed to the user.
