    Abstract: For transport of granulate from a granulation tank by means of liquid and air, an ejector is provided with a side inlet for granulate, a first end with a spray nozzle for pressurized transport liquid, and a second end with an inlet for pressurized gas. Downstream from the second end, an outlet spray nozzle for a three-phase flow of liquid, granulate, and gas is provided. A first conduit has a lower end connected with the outlet for transport of the three-phase flow. The ejector includes a tubular ejector housing with an internal wear liner and an outlet spray nozzle made from a durable material. The inlet for pressurized gas includes a ring-shaped chamber that surrounds the periphery of the ejector and is connected with the inside of the ejector through a ring-shaped slit that directs the pressurized gas towards the outlet of the ejector.

    Abstract: A method for continuously pouring molten metal in an initially substantially unfilled tundish having a channel-type inductor having a channel opening into the bottom portion of the tundish, is done by starting the pourings and the continuous sequential steps of applying power to the inductor when its channel is first covered by the poured metal to form a melt level and the static pressure of the metal is low and while increasing the power rapidly so as to cause incipient pinching in the channel and then momentarily rapidly reducing the power so as to prevent pinching; as the metal level further increases so that the metal's static pressure further increases, again increasing the power rapidly so as to again cause incipient pinching in the channel and then again momentarily rapidly reducing the power so as to prevent pinching; and continuing these sequential steps until the tundish is filled.

    Abstract: A metal melt casting apparatus comprises a vessel for containing the melt and having a wall portion having a downwardly pointing melt tapping hole, the vessel tilting so that this wall portion can be raised and lowered. A fountain has a top for receiving the melt when registered with said tapping hole and a bottom for connection with the bottom of a mold. A gas-tight elastically deflectible sealing means interconnects the tapping hole and the fountain top when the mentioned wall portion is lowered thereon by tilting of the vessel. The sealing means is made in the form of two parts which elastically flexibly engage when the converter wall with the tapping hole is lowered on the top of the fountain, one part being connected to the wall and the other part being connected to the fountain. The sealing means is provided with a gas passage so that the tapping metal stream may be subject to evacuation for degassing or surrounded by an inert gas.

    Abstract: Apparatus for melting, holding and tapping metals or metal alloys, in which solid material is melted down in a channel-type induction furnace, the melt then being transferred to a second channel-type induction furnace to be kept hot, possibly over-heated and stored, characterized in that the melting furnace is connected to the second furnace by way of a feeding channel and is located at a higher level than the second furnace and that the second furnace is in the form of a pressure furnace for pressure tapping through a spout. As a further characterizing feature, the tapping spout is provided with a tun dish in which sub-atmospheric pressures can be obtained to control the tapping through the spout.

    Abstract: A metallurgical furnace has a wall contacted by molten metal and having a nozzle opening below the level of the metal, a nozzle positioned in this opening forms a passage for injecting a blast into the metal, and this nozzle has means for liquid-cooling the outer end of its blast passage to freeze the molten metal when flowing backwardly through the nozzle's passage in the event of a blast failure. In such an event, the frozen or solidified metal forms a stopper for the nozzle's passage.
