Patent number: 10494270Abstract: The invention provides an efficient method to purify an aqueous solution, typically mine drainage water, especially of anions and cations present in the aqueous solution as dissolved solids, the anions and cations are removed by treatment with a positively charged extractant having at least eight carbon atoms, whereby an unstable emulsion is formed; the unstable emulsion is allowed to break into an extract phase loaded with the anions and cations, and a water phase depleted in anions and cations; a floc inherently forms in the loaded extractant phase and then the loaded extractant phase and floc are separated from the purified water and treated to remove the anions and cations as concentrated useful products; the treated aqueous phase now reduced in anion and/or cation content is also separated from the emulsion as a purified aqueous solution. The extractant phase is preferably recycled. A continuous water purification process is provided.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2017Date of Patent: December 3, 2019Assignee: Winner Water Services, Inc.Inventors: Bruce F. Monzyk, F. Patent number: 10253620Abstract: The disclosure provides a kick detection system for use during a drilling operation where wellbore kick warnings are provided based on indications of standoff conditions in a compensated instrument system. The system provides a warning of a potential kick condition by analyzing a current instrument compensation against a time series of past compensations, in order to monitor whether conditions within the standoff region of the wellbore are unexpectedly changing. The system comprises a source, a short-spaced detector, and a long-spaced detector, and a processor receives the short-spaced signal and the long-spaced signal, compensates the long-spaced signal, and generates standoff data reflecting the corrections applied to the long-range signal. The processor determines and maintains the standoff data as a time series and periodically compares a recent data point to a moving average in order to evaluate indications of a potential well kick.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2015Date of Patent: April 9, 2019Inventors: Kelly K. Rose, Brian C. Tost, Fred Aminzadeh

Publication number: 20090274517Abstract: A power trowel is provided for finishing concrete. The trowel can be used to finish concrete at different stages of hardening. The handle of the trowel is rotated both to adjust the speed of rotation of the trowel blades and to administer a spray solution to the surface of concrete being finished with the trowel. The trowel includes dual rotating hubs with blades attached to and extending outwardly from each hub. The surface areas covered by the blades on one hub overlaps the surface area covered by the blades on the other hub. Each hub rotates in the same direction and non-synchronously with the other hub.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2009Publication date: November 5, 2009Inventor: Lawrence K. Rose
