  • Patent number: 8110287
Abstract: The invention provides processes for coating the surface of substrates such as a sheet, film, foam, fiber, etc., with a curable liquid resin or solution of curable resin, then in one embodiment, stably attaching a superabsorbent polymeric powder to such resin, and then curing the resin to form a coated superabsorbent product. Such substrates may include polymeric materials. Other process embodiments utilizing curable and thermoplastic resinous powders may be used instead of curable liquid resins and resulting products are included in the invention. The coated product may be utilized for water and nutrient retention in combination with irrigation, erosion control, to direct plant root growth, and to clean up standing water and petroleum spills.

  • Publication number: 20110304339
Abstract: A bus terminal is isolated from ground potential during normal operation of the vehicle. A first current is applied to the bus terminal. A current level detector is arranged to detect a first level of the first current, or a corresponding observed voltage level, that exists or flows from the bus terminal to ground. A compensator is configured to compensate for a range in the detected first level by applying a corresponding compensating voltage level to a first resistor coupled to the current level detector. An electronic data processor is capable of estimating a first isolation level between the bus terminal and ground based on the detected first level.

  • Publication number: 20110263436
Abstract: Recombinant antibodies, including chimeric antibodies, specific for hepatitis C (HCV) antigenic proteins are provided. The recombinant antibodies specifically bind to diagnostically relevant regions of HCV proteins and are thus suitable for use, for example, as diagnostic reagents for the detection of HCV, and/or as standardization reagents or positive control reagents in assays for the detection of HCV. The recombinant antibodies can also be used in the treatment or prevention of a HCV infection.

  • Patent number: 7957412
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a transmission line, a receiver circuit, and a high pass filter circuit coupled between the transmission line and a receiver circuit input. The receiver circuit is configured to receive a data signal over the transmission line at a first data rate. The high pass filter circuit is connected between the transmission line and a receiver circuit input and has a corner frequency that is less than approximately the first data rate and is greater or equal to than approximately one-half the second data rate. The second data rate is an effective data rate caused by an expected data pattern on the transmission line. Other devices, systems, and methods are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100251981
Abstract: The present invention increases cold temperature oil flow through the variable cam timing (VCT) phaser to reduce the amount of time it takes to replace this oil with warmer low viscosity oil and thereby improve performance. Furthermore the oil flow through the VCT phaser is reduced once the oil temperature reaches the minimum operating temperature for the VCT phaser to operate and the VCT phaser is commanded to move from the park position. Therefore, the VCT phaser is charged with hot engine oil and is commanded to move from the parked position. The VCT phaser reduces oil flow through the phaser at high oil temperatures and low oil viscosity while adding the benefit of increased oil flow through the phaser at low oil temperatures and high oil viscosity to facilitate getting warmer oil into the VCT phaser sooner for increased VCT performance.

  • Patent number: 7799563
Abstract: Methods and structures are disclosed where carrier fiber is used to enable the assembly of two and three dimensional structures of autologous tissue. Tissue is harvested from the donor, integrated with a carrier fiber, and assembled into complex forms rapidly. The structures can be tailored to the requirements of a specific medical procedure. The tissue is kept live and viable during extracorporeal assembly and the finished structure is emplaced in the donor's body. The use of a carrier fiber leader for pre-threading integration and assembly machines facilitates machine set up, drawing of the tissue into the process, and rapid integration and assembly of the multi-dimensional structures. Assembly can include providing tissue and fiber leaders extending from the structure for attaching the structure in place. The carrier fiber either is bio-absorbed as new tissue forms, or forms a bio-compatible substructure for the patient's native tissue.

  • Patent number: 7787766
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for sensing which faults have occurred in a laser control system, as well as trapping and identifying the first fault occurrence. The apparatus includes an integrated circuit in which a mask register is set by means of a micro-controller or a host system to select which fault sources are to be recorded. A status bit register in which the fault indications are stored can also be interrogated by the micro-controller or a host system. A settable first fault status register determines whether every fault or only the first fault gets recorded.

  • Publication number: 20100035538
Abstract: An open basket of a resilient mesh material having first and second side edges of a frictional flexible material. The side edges are adapted to provide for positioning of the basket either immediately partially between a vent cover and the duct, or alternatively, fully within the duct at a location immediately below and spaced apart from, the vent cover. The mesh size of the basket is chosen to preclude the passage therethrough of commonly experienced objects, such as rounded objects such as marbles, elongated objects such as nail clippers, pens, coins, etc. any of which may pass through the slots defined in the vent cover.
