    Abstract: A secure frame is received from a remote device across a wireless communications network, such as an IEEE 802.15.3 or IEEE 802.15.3a network. Upon obtaining a secure frame counter (SFC) value from the secure frame, the frame is accepted or rejected based upon the occurrence of one or more acceptance conditions. The one or more acceptance conditions may include an SFC value of the received frame being greater than any previously received SFC value, or the SFC value of the received frame being within the tracking window and being previously unused.
