  • Publication number: 20150279525
Abstract: Chemical or physical markers (i.e., tags) can be embedded in a host resin-based, polymer or thermoplastic matrix used as feedstock for additive manufacturing. These tags can comprise detectable levels of magnetic, electromagnetic, ferromagnetic and other metal alloy materials within the metallic feedstock materials used to create objects via additive manufacturing. Feedstock including tags can be used to manufacture firearms or other objects. The properties of such tags may be used to improve, enhance, or degrade-by-design the properties of the host material. Accordingly, the use of tags can provide traceability, authentication, and other characteristics to a firearm that enable detection and communication between the firearm and sensors.

  • Publication number: 20150165693
Abstract: Additive manufacturing (AM) materials can be rapidly qualified with dopants that improve accuracy and precision of microstructure. When dopants are sensed by AM supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, dopants facilitate targeted guidance. This capability can be used as a 3D stencil when the dopants are relayed as coordinates in 3D space. Dopants can be sensed to provide real time in situ process control, data and feedback about the additive manufacturing process. When an electrostatic or electromagnetic force is applied to the print area, doped materials can be modified to control the melt pool and change various properties of the doped material.

  • Publication number: 20150104802
Abstract: Methods and systems for enabling additive manufacturing feedstock materials to communicate with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems by way of molecular markers. Markers can be DNA encoded with information or other small molecules that emit a biochemical, chemical, fluorescent, or conductive signal; markers also include additives that transmit empirical data about resistivity, density, weight, volumetric information or other properties of the 3D printed object. The methods to inject materials with markers are to use various solvents or integration as a dry formulation, blended by weight, and concentration. Markers can be applied to feedstock materials entirely, or integrated at various locations on a 3D-printed object while it is being printed or as a thin layer while the object undergoes post-processing treatment.

  • Publication number: 20140162772
Abstract: A system for securely providing psychometric information is disclosed. The system includes a psychometric information database storing the psychometric information, wherein the psychometric information corresponds to an individual, and wherein the psychometric information is derived from an interaction with the individual. The system includes a validation module configured to validate an entity requesting the psychometric information. The system further includes an authorization module configured to selectively allow usage of a portion of the psychometric information based at least in part on a type of the portion of the psychometric information and at least in part on the interaction from which the portion of the psychometric information was derived.
