Abstract: The present invention provides a method for controlling insects, comprising a step of applying at least one selected from a compound represented by formula (1) and a salt thereof to seeds (in the formula, R1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted C1-6 alkylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C1-6 alkylsulfinyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted C1-6 alkylsulfonyl group, R2 represents a hydrogen atom, or a substituted or unsubstituted C1-6 alkyl group, R represents a C1-6 haloalkyl group or a C2-6 haloalkenyl group, X represents a substituted or unsubstituted C1-6 alkyl group or the like, n represents a chemically acceptable number of X and is an integer of 0 to 4].
