Abstract: Methods for data transmission for use in an electronic device including a touch-sensitive display unit are provided. First, a first event indicating that a specific button has been pressed, and then held is received. In response to the first event, contacts and movements of an object on the touch-sensitive display unit are received and touching script data corresponding to the contacts and movements of the object are recorded. Thereafter, in response to receiving a second event indicating that the specific button has been released, the touching script data is transmitted to at least one device such that the touching script data is displayed in a display unit of the device when the touching script data has been received.

Abstract: An electronic device that can selectively enable a facial recognition unlock mechanism of the electronic device includes: a display screen, for displaying information to be viewed by a user; a camera, for capturing at least an image; a light level determining module, for determining ambient light levels; and a facial unlocking module, for comparing a captured image with a stored image and unlocking the electronic device when the captured image is determined to match the stored image. When the light level determining module determines that ambient light levels fall outside a predetermined range for performing a facial recognition function on a captured image, the display screen will inform the user via a display mechanism on the display screen.

Abstract: An electronic apparatus with haptic feedback and a method for providing haptic feedback are provided. The method includes the following steps. An actuation unit is provided to generate haptic feedback. In response to at least a haptic command, a control value is dynamically generated to control the actuation unit to generate haptic feedback, wherein dynamic range compression is applied to dynamically generate the control value so as to control the magnitude of haptic feedback to be substantially within a vibration range.

Abstract: An application usage history of a plurality of applications installed on the portable electronic device is logged. The application usage history includes any combination of when the applications are launched, where the application are launched and application launch patterns. Any combination of a current time information, a current location information and a current application launch pattern are obtained. The applications are selected to provide the application list including at least one application that is possible to be launched according to the application usage history and any combination of the current time information, the current location information and the current application launch pattern.
