  • Publication number: 20080148974
Abstract: A printing press includes at least one printing unit having a cylinder and a cover covering the cylinder. Actuators are associated with the cylinder for changing a geometry of the cover in axial and/or circumferential direction of the cylinder. Positioning electronics are connected to the actuators and a printing press machine control system is connected to the positioning electronics. An image inspection device is connected to the printing press machine control system at least for geometric measurement of printed printing materials. A printing press computer processes measured results from the image inspection device for carrying out a desired/actual value comparison and for driving the actuators to minimize determined deviations, in the event that deviations are determined.

  • Patent number: 6925349
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and a method for synchronizing processes which are executed on a plurality of units (2a, 2b, 2c), in particular, in paper-processing machines, the units (2a, 2b, 2c) being connected to a central control unit (1) via a data bus (6). The present invention is characterized in that the central control unit (1) is designed for distributing movement commands via a data bus (6) to a plurality of units (2a, 2b, 2c), the movement commands containing the instant at which these commands are executed, and that provision is made for the units (2a, 2b, 2c) which keep available the absolute time to synchronously execute these commands at the instant communicated via the commands.

  • Patent number: 6832121
Abstract: A device for monitoring safety-relevant processes in actuating/drive elements in machines having at least one operation control for safety-relevant and other than safety-relevant processes, at least one safety monitoring control, at least one safety input/output device and a redundantly constructed input/output system for safety-relevant processes, includes at least one field bus system connecting the operation control, the at least one safety input/output device and the at least one safety monitoring control to one another, at least one of the safety input/output device and the safety monitoring control being disposed in a distributed manner on an actuating/drive element for, respectively, initiating and performing a safety-relevant process; and a method of operating the device.

  • Patent number: 5361021
Abstract: A method for suppressing current peaks occurring during commutation in phase windings of a brushless direct-current motor, including supplying the phase windings via an indirect direct-current converter with rectangular current having an actual value measured exclusively in a direct-current link of the converter (single-current measurement), and delaying current buildup in the phase winding by a time period t.sub.v with respect to a current decay.

  • Patent number: 5296787
Abstract: A method for regulating a motor current in phase windings of a brushless d.c. motor, wherein current is applied to the phase windings individually via an electronically controllable, d.c.-voltage intermediate-circuit converter with switchable semiconductor valves and respective freewheeling diodes connected in parallel with each thereof in individual bridge arms, and an actual value of the motor current is measured exclusively in the d.c.-voltage intermediate circuit, includes switching off, in a motor mode of operation, only one switchable semiconductor valve of the energized bridge arms for a period of time dependent upon the rotational speed of the motor when a reference value of the motor current is reached.
