    Abstract: A touchscreen device includes a substrate and a proximity sensor. The proximity sensor includes a sensing area disposed on the substrate. The sensing area is separate from touch-sensing elements of the touchscreen device. The proximity sensor includes a conductive trace disposed on the substrate and connected to the sensing area. The conductive trace is to communicate a proximity signal from the sensing area to a proximity sensing circuit.
