  • Patent number: 11287652
Abstract: A device for generating a virtual image with stray light suppression comprises at least one light source for producing light with a specified wavelength, a display element for producing an image, and an optical waveguide for expanding an exit pupil. An aperture mask that has holes and non-transparent regions is arranged above an upper boundary surface of the optical waveguide.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 2020
Date of Patent: March 29, 2022
    Assignee: Continental Automotive GmbH
    Inventors: Kai Habermehl, Markus Schöpper
  • Patent number: 11281000
Abstract: A head-up display unit is protected from damage caused by light entering from the outside. The head-up display comprises a display element whose image is projected onto a mirror unit of a vehicle at a critical angle by a deflection unit and is reflected from there in the direction of the eye of a driver overlaid on an image of the surroundings, and a light-sensitive sensor. The sensor detects ambient light that enters from the mirror element into the deflection unit at the critical angle, and the head-up display comprises a control unit at the control input of which a signal of the sensor is present, and whose control output is connected to a parking device for the head-up display.
