Patent number: 11161827Abstract: In one aspect, the disclosure relates to a mode of asymmetric induction in radical processes based on sequential combination of enantiodifferentiative H-atom abstraction and stereoretentive radical substitution. Also disclosed is an asymmetric system for stereoselective synthesis of strained 5-membered cyclic sulfamides via radical 1,5-C—H amination of sulfamoyl azides. The disclosed metalloradical system can control the degree and sense of asymmetric induction in the catalytic radical C—H amination in a systematic manner. The disclosed system is applicable to a broad scope of substrates with different types of C(sp3)—H bonds and exhibits reactivity and selectivity, providing access to both enantiomers of useful 5-membered cyclic sulfamides in a highly enantioenriched form. Also disclosed are catalysts useful in these processes. Publication number: 20100001192Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a gamma camera system for brain SPECT imaging including slanted detectors with slanted hole collimators and a special hood-shaped head support device. The present invention eliminates the need for radial detector motion and therefore for collision sensing devices and safety related circuitry as required in prior art gamma cameras. Furthermore, the design and shape of the present invention reduces the necessary camera setup procedure, thereby improving camera workflow and output. The present invention's hood-shaped head support encapsulates the patient's head, preventing long hair from being entangled with the detectors while providing increased patient safety and comfort. Furthermore, the hood gently restrains the patients head, leading to less patient movement and improved image quality. In addition the hood enables very close detector proximity to the patient's head leading to further improvements in image quality.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2008Publication date: January 7, 2010Inventors: Kai Lange, Jens Egede Gronbech

Publication number: 20020143759Abstract: A search system prioritizes search-response items according to search-histories defined by two-dimensional search contexts: query context and user community. The query context is basically a query string derived from the user's search request. The community can be selected by the user or assigned by the search engine. A user can indicate interest in a search-response item by clicking on an excerpt for further exploration. The search engine associates each interest indication with the query context and the community. Thus, when an item has been returned in response to a search, a hit count for that item in the context of the present query and present community is available for prioritizing. The two dimensionally-restricted search history provides for better-targeted prioritization of search documents.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 27, 2001Publication date: October 3, 2002Inventor: Allen Kai-Lang Yu

Publication number: 20020138555Abstract: A method for extending the lifetime of cached web pages. In multi-user environments, as for example in networks, that require the display of personalized information for each client served, regeneration has been required for even the simplest of changes. This regeneration can become an excessive burden on heavily loaded web servers and can cause major, unacceptable performance degradation. Methods are disclosed herein for significantly reducing the incidence of required regeneration of cached pages in such systems. The load on the server is reduced by moving much of the regeneration of information pages to the clients that become the systems responsible for generating most of the personalization modifications. Differences between cached versions can be abridged with client-side scripts, so only one master cache version, instead of multiple minor variation versions, need to be generated on the server, resulting in high cache efficiency and server performance.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2001Publication date: September 26, 2002Inventor: Allen Kai-Lang Yu

Patent number: 6180943Abstract: To acquire tomographs, two detectors (1, 2) are secured together in a support structure (3) in such a manner that their detection fields are inclined relative to each other. The angle of inclination between them is preferably 90°. This pair of detectors is then placed in such a manner that the plane (9) bisecting the two detection fields includes the axis of rotation (4) around which the pair of detectors is to rotate to perform tomography on a subject. For fat subjects, the pair is moved away (13) from the axis, and for thin subjects it is moved towards it. It is shown that to avoid detector displacement interfering with tomography computation, it suffices merely to change computation parameters in the reconstruction algorithm.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1993Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Kai Lange

Patent number: 5936247Abstract: An apparatus for generating gamma transmission and gamma emission images simultaneously including two emission cameras disposed on opposite sides of an imaging area so as to oppose each other, a gamma line transmission source and a line detector positioned between the two emission cameras on opposite sides of the imaging area, at least one of the source or line detector being movable along a path that substantially traverses the distance between the two emission cameras. The two emission cameras, line source and line detector are all secured to the same gantry for rotation about the imaging area so that transmission and emission images can be generated simultaneously.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1997Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Kai Lange, J.o slashed.rn-Erik Jensen

Patent number: 4272678Abstract: In a gamma camera, to improve resolution, primary scintillations resulting from absorption of gamma ray photons in a scintillator crystal are intercepted by the input face of a channel amplifier plate in which the primary scintillations excite a photocathode to emit electrons which are multiplied in the respective channels and reconverted to secondary scintillations in a phosphorescent output screen from which the brighter secondary scintillations are coupled to an array of photodetectors which produce signals that are used to determine the x and y coordinates of the scintillations. The secondary scintillation positions correspond with the primary scintillations in the crystal because the channels keep them aligned.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1979Date of Patent: June 9, 1981Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Kai Lange

Patent number: 4216381Abstract: A supporting structure allows a conventional, counterbalanced scintillation camera to be adapted for emission tomography analysis by rotating a detector in a circular orbit about a patient. The structure includes a base having a pair of upright stanchions supporting an upright circular frame which has a central, longitudinal axis. The upright circular frame comprises an outer circular ring and a concentric inner circular ring adapted for concentric relative rotation. An elongated frame pivotally supports a detector at one end and has a counterweight at the other end is tiltably mounted within the inner circular ring of the circular frame. The structure includes a drive system for rotating the elongated frame within the circular frame whereby the detector orbits the patient to receive emission data.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1979Date of Patent: August 5, 1980Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Kai Lange
