  • Patent number: 6161190
Abstract: A clock signal loading device for a processor of a controller connected to a network and a clock signal loading method are provided. The device includes a first oscillator for generating a clock signal that can be loaded to the processor, a controllable clock signal changer for changing the clock signal generated by the first oscillator, and a control device connected to the network for generating a control signal for controlling the clock signal changer as a function of the communication signals transmitted over the network. This device and method allows the frequency of the clock signal needed by the processor to be tuned in a simple and flexible manner.

  • Patent number: 6119666
Abstract: A device for controlling a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with a rotatable shaft has a transmitter wheel mountable on the rotatable shaft and having a number of uniform spaced angular marks spaced and at least one reference mark which as a synchronization mark for forming control pulses for the internal combustion engine, a sensor which senses the transmission wheel and supplies a rectangular output signal corresponding to its surface, a computing device which evaluates the output signal and compares time intervals of uniform signal flanks with one another or sets them relative to one another in a certain ratio, to recognize the reference mark, and after a first recognition of the reference mark occurrence of the reference mark by counting of the uniform signal flanks is recognized and in addition the distance of the signal flanks is tested and thereby the recognized reference mark is tested for plausibility, an error counter arranged so that when a non plausibility is recognized it is incremented

  • Patent number: 6035832
Abstract: A method and a device for controlling a control element, particularly an injection-timing device of a high-pressure fuel pump, in an open loop. A control unit presets a driving value to be applied to the control element. The driving value and a neutral value are applied alternately to the control element.

  • Patent number: 5975059
Abstract: A method and a device for the closed-loop control of a control element having integral action, particularly an injection-timing device of a high-pressure fuel pump. Using a system deviation as a baseline, a controller preselects a driving signal to be applied to the control element. In the event of an error in the area of actual-value ascertanment, an emergency travel operation is initiated. A signal is applied to the control element, such that at least short-term, it assumes a defined position.

  • Patent number: 5909722
Abstract: A method and a device for controlling in closed-loop a final controlling element having integral action, in particular an injection-timing device of a high-pressure fuel pump. On the basis of a system deviation, an automatic controller defines a driving signal to be fed to the final controlling element. The output signal from the automatic controller is acted upon by a precontrol, which can be so specified that the final controlling element remains in its position.

  • Patent number: 5880920
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling an electromagnetic switching member having an excitation winding and a movable armature. A first time point and a second time point define a time window. Within the time window, the current characteristic and/or the voltage characteristic is evaluated in order to detect a switching time point at which the armature reaches a new limit position. The time window is enlarged if no reliable switching time point was detected within the time window.

  • Patent number: 5878716
Abstract: In a device and a process for controlling an injection actuator of a self-igniting internal combustion engine, on the basis of the operating conditions, a fuel amount signal (QKO) can be given, which depends at least on the driver's command. Under certain operating conditions, regardless of the driver's command, a minimum amount is injected to actuate the injection actuator.

  • Patent number: 5862791
Abstract: A process and a device for controlling an internal combustion engine, in particular for influencing the time of fuel injection into an internal combustion engine, influences a system deviation, which is computed from a setpoint and an actual value. From the system deviation, a controller defines a manipulated variable to be supplied to the actuator. When a set of first operating states is present, a first controller structure is active, and when a set of second operating states is present, a second controller structure is active. At the time of passage from the first controller structure to the second controller structure, an initial value is set for the second controller structure as a function of at least the setpoint and the actual value.
