    Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for improving the throughput of a neural network, using multiplexing and demultiplexing of information. Specifically, the multiplexing may include receiving a plurality of inputs, generating transformed inputs by performing, via a multiplexing layer, a transformation to each input of the plurality of inputs, and combining the transformed inputs into a single compact representation of the plurality of inputs. The demultiplexing may include receiving an output from a neural network, generating a plurality of values by converting, via a demultiplexing layer, the output back into independent representations, and producing predictions for each input based on the plurality of values. Further improvements may be seen when pretraining of the neural network and/or high-throughput transformers are incorporated.

    Abstract: A system for detecting speech from reverberant signals is disclosed. The system is programmed to receive spectral temporal amplitude data in the modulation frequency domain. The system is programmed to then enhance the spectral temporal amplitude data by reducing reverberation and other noise as well as smoothing based on certain properties of the spectral temporal spectrogram associated with the spectral temporal amplitude data. Next, the system is programmed to compute various features related to the presence of speech based on the enhanced spectral temporal amplitude data and other data in the modulation frequency domain or in the (acoustic) frequency domain. The system is programmed to then determine an extent of speech present in the audio data corresponding to the received spectral temporal amplitude data based on the various features. The system can be programmed to transmit the extent of speech present to an output device.

    Abstract: A method of carbon-capture sorbent regeneration is provided. The method includes obtaining a sorbent that includes adsorbed carbon dioxide. Magnetic nanoparticles are introduced to the sorbent and adsorbed carbon dioxide to form a mixture. A magnetic field is applied to the mixture. The magnetic nanoparticles generate heat which releases carbon dioxide from the sorbent, thereby regenerating the sorbent. The magnetic nanoparticles include iron oxides, doped ferrites, functionalized iron oxides, functionalized ferrites, and composite materials that are combinations of these. The sorbent includes liquid and solid sorbents, and the regenerated sorbent may be utilized for further carbon capture.
